A 40-year-old Lincolnton man is accused of sexually assaulting two teen girls last year, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies charged Jesus Martinez Moreno, of 2546 Teague St. in Lincolnton, on Thursday and placed him under an $80,000 secured bond.

The Sheriff’s Office said he inappropriately touched two juveniles, both 13, whom he knew.

The alleged incidents took place in May and September last year at a home on the county’s western end, investigators said.

Detective Dan Renn is credited with Moreno’s arrest, charging him with two felony counts of statutory rape/sexual offense of a 13-, 14- or 15-year-old by a defendant six years older.

Moreno has a prior record from 2005 for assault on a female in the county, according to the state’s Department of Correction website.

He remains in jail with a first appearance set for today.
