Today is the last day Lincoln County residents will be able to cast their vote for the 2014 Primary Election. Polls opened this morning at 6:30 a.m. and will remain open until 7:30 p.m.
According to Lincoln County Board of Elections Director Bradley Putnam, the early voter turnout for this year’s election has significantly decreased since the 2010 election.
“There have been 1,543 early voters that visited a one-stop site to cast a vote,” Putnam said. “Out of those, 1,244 were Republican ballots and 293 were Democrat ballots, with a small percentage of them being unaffiliated and libertarian ballots.”
In regard to absentee ballots, Putnam stated 183 Republican ballots, 12 Democrat ballots and four unaffiliated ballots have been requested.
Lincoln County residents should vote at their assigned voting place within the precinct where they reside. Polling locations can be found at http://www.lincolncounty.org/index.aspx?NID=157
The Lincoln Times-News will continue coverage of the primary election results as more information becomes available.
