LINCOLN TIMES-NEWS

With regular season play complete in the Southern District 7 Athletic 2A and North Piedmont 3A/4A baseball and softball races, postseason tournament pairings in the NP3A/4A are complete.
The SD-7, not so much.
Baseball and softball league tournaments begin this week for all three conferences involving Lincoln County teams. Times and pairings have been announced for both tournaments in the NP3A/4A, and the pairings are settled in the SD-7 baseball tournament.
There are still some ties that need to be broken in order to seed the SD-7 softball tournament, and play isn’t complete in the Southern Piedmont 1A Conference. Those tournaments will begin on Wednesday.
In the North Piedmont 3A/4A baseball tournament, North Lincoln finished fifth after its loss to Statesville on Friday and will travel to No. 4 West Iredell for a first round game today at 6 p.m. Its softball team finished second and will host South Iredell today at 4:30 p.m.
The baseball semifinals and finals are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday at North Lincoln. The softball semifinals and finals will be at league champion Alexander Central on Tuesday and Thursday.
The pairings are all that are known for the SD-7 baseball tournament, as the league had not yet released official game times as of Sunday night. The tournament will begin on Tuesday at the higher seed, with the semifinals and finals held Thursday and Friday at the Legion Fairgrounds off U.S. 70 in Hickory.
Due to its loss to Maiden on Friday, East Lincoln finished tied for second with the Blue Devils but drew the No. 3 seed due to tie-break rules. Maiden split with conference champion Bunker Hill will the Bears swept the Mustangs.
East Lincoln hosts No. 6 Bandys on Tuesday.
Lincolnton, which finished tied for seventh with Newton-Conover but lost the tiebreaker because the Red Devils split with Maiden while it swept the Wolves, travels to Bunker Hill Tuesday. West Lincoln, which finished fifth, heads to No. 4 West Caldwell.
