A Maiden teen is charged with breaking into his neighbor’s home earlier this month and stealing firearms, ammunition and a safe, police said.

Officers with the Maiden Police Department arrested Tyler John Brown, 18, of 805 Island Ford Road, on Saturday, according to an agency press release.

Police said Brown broke into a nearby residence and took five guns, some bullets, a safe and a number of other items in the incident.

Officers charged the teen with one felony count each of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods.

Brown was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Center under an $8,000 secured bond.

He remains behind bars with a second court appearance set for May 16.
