Relay for Life

Minister Avis Paston and Providence Missionary Baptist Church will host a Relay for Life program at 4 p.m. The theme is “The Seven Last Words of Christ.” A Spaghetti Dinner will be offered with a suggested donation.

First Presbyterian of Lincolnton will hold a Good Friday service, beginning at 6 p.m.. All are welcome to attend.

Asbury Church, located at 3097 Asbury Church Rd. in Lincolnton, will hold a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Movie

Tucker’s Grove United Methodist Church, located at 4501 Highway 73 in Iron Station, will offer the showing of the Passion of the Christ. The film showing is free and open to the public. For additional information, call (704) 732-0550.

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, located at 4051 King Wilkinson Rd. in Lincolnton, will hold a Good Friday Tenebrae Service at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Artists Unplugged

Gallery 27, located at 808 West Highway 27 in Lincolnton, will host an Artists Unplugged event from 7:30-10:30 p.m. The event works with local poets, musicians and comedians to bring uncensored literary and audible art to Lincolnton. Good Friday

Rehobeth United Methodist Church will celebrate Good Friday with a Tenebrae Service, beginning at 8 p.m. The service of Tenebrae, or darkness, recognizes the crucifixion of Christ, and it is characterized by the gradual extinguishing of candles.

 

SATURDAY

 

Yard Sale

Christian Ministry of Lincoln County will host their Annual Spring Yard Sale from 7 a.m.-noon. A large variety of items will be for sale.

Fundraiser

Marvin United Methodist Church will sponsor a Relay for Life Fundraiser at Carolina Hardware, located on Reepsville Rd., at 8:30 a.m. They will sell ham biscuits, hot dogs and baked goods. All proceeds will benefit the Marvin Relay for Life Team.

Easter Egg hunt

Southside Baptist Church, located at 1726 Southside Rd. in Lincolnton, will host an Easter Egg Hunt  from 10 a.m.-noon.

Long Shoals Wesleyan Church, located at 3032 Wesleyan Church Road in Lincolnton, will host an Easter Egg Hunt from 10 a.m.-noon. Children will be able to hunt for eggs and participate in egg relay races as well as crafts, games and other activities. Pizza and snacks will be provided.

Easter Egg hunt

The City of Lincolnton Parks and Recreation, in conjunction with The Lincoln County Coalition Against Child Abuse and Child Advocacy Center and Dairy Queen of Lincolnton will host the 67th Annual Egg Hunt at Betty G. Ross Park. Pre-hunt games will begin at 10 a.m., and the official egg hunt will start at 10:30 a.m. Children will be divided into four age groups: 2 and under, 3-4 years old, 5-6 years old and 7-9 years old. Children should bring a bag or basket without Easter grass to hold their eggs. The rain date for the egg hunt will be on April 21 at 10:30 a.m. For more information, please call the Recreation Office at 704-735-2671.

Pastor Rick Sloop and the congregation of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, located on Old Highway 150 in Crouse, invites all children to attend an Easter Egg Hunt beginning at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served.

Lakeside Church of God will hold an Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m.  at Beatty’s Ford Park in Denver. Refreshments will be provided. All are welcome to attend.

Hatley

The Committee to Re-Elect Fred Hatley will host a Meet and Greet with Clerk of Court Fred Hatley from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Lincolnton VFW, located at 1306 Country Club Road. Those attending will enjoy an afternoon of BBQ and fixins.

Easter Egg hunt

Rehobeth United Methodist Church will host their annual Easter Egg Hunt, from 2-4 p.m. at the Connor Recreation Center, located on McGee Point Rd in Terrell. Food, crafts a decorate-your-own-cookie station, and an egg hunt for children 12 and under will be offered.

Easter service

First Presbyterian Church of Lincolnton, located at 114 West Main St., will hold a Great Vigil of Easter service with communion and special music at 6 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Dance

The Gaston County Resource Center, located at 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Highway in Dallas, is hosting a Dinner-Dance at 6 p.m. The event will feature music by “The Delmonicos,” one of Gastonia’s favorite traveling bands. Music will include old-time favorites from the 50s and 60s. Admission is $8, and the meal is paid for by your donations.

Cantata

The combined choirs of Trinity Lutheran Church and Daniels Lutheran Church will present an Easter Cantata, “A Testimony of Life” at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 2700 Trinity Church Rd. in Vale. The combined worship service will celebrate the life of Christ.

SUNDAY

Easter service

Machpelah Presbyterian Church, located at 226 Brevard Place Rd. in Iron Station, will host an Easter Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. Built in 1848, the church has no electricity. The service will begin in candlelight will not use any amplified sound.

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, located at 315 North Cedar St. will hold their historic Easter Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. Breakfast will be served in the Parish Hall following the service. All are welcome to attend.

Rehobeth United Methodist Church will celebrate Easter at their Sunrise Service at 6:45 a.m. at the Rehobeth UMC Cemetery. A breakfast in the fellowship hall will follow the service. All are invited to bring fresh cut flowers to place on the Blooming Cross, which celebrates the rebirth from winter and the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Additional Easter services will also be held at 8:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton will hold its traditional Easter Sunrise Service in front of the “Old Rugged Cross” at 7 a.m.. Pastor Billy Dunigan will speak, and Ronnie Carpenter will be singing. All are welcome.

The church will also hold a Horizon Worship, offering a casual guitar lead at 9:30 a.m. and a Heritage Worship at 11 a.m. All are welcome to attend.

Zion Church Road in Cherryville, will hold an Easter Service at 7 a.m.  A country breakfast will follow the morning service at 8:00 a.m. Sunday School and a later worship service will be held at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. respectively. MONDAY

Lincoln County Senior Services will host a Volunteer Meeting on Monday from 11:00 a.m.-noon for current and future volunteers to learn about upcoming opportunities. For more information on becoming a volunteer, please call Tabitha at (704) 732-9053.

Food, Fellowship, Fun

Greater Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church, located at 1009 E. Main St. in Lincolnton invites the public for an afternoon of food, fellowship, an egg hunt and other activities. The event will begin at noon, and those needing more information should contact Dois Ashe at (704) 735-9443.

Blood Drive

The American Red Cross will be hold a Blood Drive on Monday from 2-6:30 p.m. at the Maiden American Legion Post Home, located at 92 East Klutz St. Homemade refreshments will be served. For more information or to make an appointment, please contact Barbara Gilmer at (828) 291-5993.

Game Night

The Lincoln County Public Library will host a Game Night at the Florence S. Shanklin Library on Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. The public is invited to test their skills with Angry Bird Star Wars or participate as a contestant on Jeopardy!
