Camp registration

Registration forms for Lincoln County Parks and Recreation’s Spring Break Camp are due Wednesday, April 16. The camp will be held April 21-25, and the total cost is $95.  For more information, contact Lincoln County Parks and Recreation at (704) 748-1518.

Multicultural Affairs

The Multicultural Affairs Committee of Gaston College will host Indian Contributors and Culture on Wednesday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Myers Center Café, located at Gaston College’s Dallas Campus. Those attending will enjoy Indian food, art displays, dancing a music. A screening of the popular 2013 Bollywood Film, Aashiqui 2, will be held from 1:30-4 p.m. in the David Belk Cannon Auditorium. English instructor Michael Powell will lead a discussion following the film. The event is free and open to the public.

LHS reunion

The planning committee for Lincolnton High School’s Class Reunion (1960-1970) will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at 405 N. Poplar Street in Lincolnton to discuss details of this year’s second annual event. Those interested in more information should visit www.lhs60to70.com.

Holy Week service

The Coalition of Churches is sponsoring a Wednesday night service during Holy Week. The service will be held at Hinton Memorial United Methodist at 7 p.m. The Rev. Cannon, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Lincolnton will be speaking. Hinton Memorial is located at 830 Car Farm Rd in Lincolnton. All are welcome to attend the service.

Dine Out for Kids

Communities in Schools will host their “Dine Out for Kids” event on Thursday. Participating restaurants will donate a portion of their day’s sales to CIS to fund programs that help children stay in school and achieve in life. Participating restaurants include Court Street Grill, located at 113 West Court Square, Fatz Café, located at 140 East Main St., Mitchem’s Kitchen, located at 6679 West Highway 27, Red Fish Grill, located at 421 N Generals Blvd. and Stacy’s Restaurant, located at 3790 North Highway 16.

Watercolor class

The UMAR-Lincolnton Arts Center is offering their Beginner Level 2 Watercolor Class on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Art on Main in Lincolnton. In this class, students will discuss the difference between opaque, transparent and gauche paints and will create a color template for use at home. Students will need to bring their entire color palette (two types of reds, two types of blues, one type of yellow) as well as a set of watercolor brushes. The cost for the class is $10 per person. Maundy Thursday

First Presbyterian Church of Lincolnton will hold a Maundy Thursday Service this Thursday at 6 p.m. The service will offer communion and foot washing, followed by the stripping of the sanctuary.

Shakespeare

The Lincoln County Public Library will host a “Shakespeare Community Read” on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Charles R. Jonas Library, the Florence S. Shanklin Library and the West Lincoln Library. Participants will have the chance to meet Ian Doescher, author of “William Shakespeare’s Star Wars: Verily A New Hope” via Skype.

Lord’s Supper

Rehobeth United Methodist Church, located at 9297 Sherrills Ford Road in Terrell, will celebrate the Lord’s Supper with a special service in remembrance of Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples on Thursday at 7 p.m. This service is open to the public and will include the sacrament of Holy Communion.

Maundy Thursday

Asbury Church, located at 3097 Asbury Church Rd in Lincolnton, will hold a Maundy Thursday Service on Thursday at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Lincoln Quilters

The Lincoln Quilters will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday at the James Warren Citizens Center, located at 115 West Main Street in Lincolnton, at 7 p.m. Jean Winchester will present the program “Fabric Collage.” Visitors are welcome.

 

FRIDAY

 

Relay for Life

Minister Avis Paston and Providence Missionary Baptist Church will host a Relay for Life program on Friday at 4 p.m. The theme is “The Seven Last Words of Christ.” A Spaghetti Dinner will be offered with a suggested donation.

Good Friday service

First Presbyterian of Lincolnton will hold a Good Friday service, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday. All are welcome to attend.

Asbury Church, located at 3097 Asbury Church Rd. in Lincolnton, will hold a Good Friday service on Friday at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Movie

Tucker’s Grove United Methodist Church, located at 4501 Highway 73 in Iron Station, will offer the showing of the Passion of the Christ, on Friday. The film showing is free and open to the public. For additional information, call (704) 732-0550.

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, located at 4051 King Wilkinson Rd. in Lincolnton, will hold a Good Friday Tenebrae Service on Friday at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Artists Unplugged

Gallery 27, located at 808 West Highway 27 in Lincolnton, will host an Artists Unplugged event on Friday from 7:30-10:30 p.m. The event works with local poets, musicians and comedians to bring uncensored literary and audible art to Lincolnton. Everyone is invited to attend and participate. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, visit www.ncgallery27.com.

Good Friday service

Rehobeth United Methodist Church will celebrate Good Friday with a Tenebrae Service, beginning at 8 p.m. The service of Tenebrae, or darkness, recognizes the crucifixion of Christ, and it is characterized by the gradual extinguishing of candles.
