Lincolnton will soon offer a community therapeutic garden for city and county residents.

On Wednesday the UMAR-Lincolnton Arts Center’s Art on Main and the Downtown Development Association will host the Ground Breaking and Blessing of the Garden. The envisioned garden is expected to incorporate visual and horticultural arts to create a unique downtown garden experience.

According to the UMAR-Lincolnton Arts Center’s Art on Main press release, the Arts Garden will feature numerous raised beds, including beds at wheelchair height. Vertical and hanging gardens will also be incorporated as well as an herbal sculpture garden.

The Ground Breaking and Blessing of the Garden will take place on Wednesday at 10 a.m. on Academy Street, located behind Pleasant Retreat Academy (Memorial Hall) in Lincolnton. Those interested in more information should visit Art on Main at 202 East Main Street.
