EL baseball pounds Bandys

Austin Buchanan and Nick Savoie combined to drive in seven runs as East Lincoln’s baseball team downed visiting Bandys 10-3 on Friday night to remain tied for first in the Southern District 7 Athletic 2A Conference.
Buchanan went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Savoie went 2-for-4 and drove in four for the Mustangs, who are tied with Bunker Hill, a 10-1 winner over Maiden, atop the league. East Lincoln and the Bears meet on Friday.
Carson Philemon picked up the win. He allowed two runs on five hits and struck out four in 4 2/3 innings. Chris Cox pitched the final 2 1/3 innings and allowed one unearned run on no hits.
The Mustangs (7-7, 7-1) travel to Lincolnton on Tuesday.

NORTH LINCOLN 6, SOUTH IREDELL 5: At South Iredell, the Knights held off the Vikings for a North Piedmont 3A/4A Conference win.
Brian Seymour went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Cameron Walker went 2-for-2 with a double, Zach McGinnis had a hit and drove in two runs, Zac Reeder had a hit and an RBI, and Zach Avery and Alex Pickerel had a hit each for North Lincoln. Gabe Ellis gave up five runs, three earned, on nine hits and walked two in the complete-game win.
North Lincoln (8-6, 5-3) will host Alexander Central on Tuesday.
LINCOLN CHARTER 4, CHARLOTTE STAMPEDE 0: At Charlotte, the Eagles picked up a non-conference win.
Adam Hutson went 2-for-4 with two doubles, Andy Jones had a home run and two RBIs, Nathaniel Scoggins had a solo home run and Barry Cheek had a hit and an RBI. Zach Hollar struck out nine, gave up seven hits and walked one in the complete-game shutout.
Lincoln Charter (9-3) hosts Cherryville on Tuesday. The Eagles are in second behind the Southern Piedmont 1A Conference-leading Ironmen.

SOFTBALL

WEST LINCOLN 20, LINCOLNTON 0, 5 INN.: At Lincolnton, the Rebels won easily in a SD-7 contest between the two rivals.
Kylee Leonhardt went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs, Raeven McCrodden went 2-for-3, walked twice and stole a base, Madison Ferguson went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI, Erin Huff went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Taylor Leatherman went 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs, Heather Truesdale had a double and three RBIs, Katie Hively doubled and drove in a run, Meredith Ferguson drove in a run and Jayden Drewery and Taylor Short had a hit each. Cassidy Wise struck out nine, walked one and gave up one hit in the win.
Courtney Campbell went 1-for-2 for Lincolnton. Allison Brown gave up five runs on five hits and a walk in one inning in the loss.
West Lincoln (11-2, 7-1) hosts Bunker Hill on Tuesday while Lincolnton (4-7, 2-6) hosts Bessemer City in a non-conference game today.
NORTH LINCOLN 3, SOUTH IREDELL 0: At South Iredell, the Knights moved into second in the NP3A/4A with the win coupled with a loss by Lake Norman. No other details were reported.
North Lincoln (10-2, 6-2) hosts league leader and undefeated Alexander Central on Tuesday.
CHARLOTTE MARVIN RIDGE 4, LINCOLN CHARTER 1: At Marvin Ridge, the Eagles dropped a non-conference contest. No other details were reported.
Lincoln Charter hosts Cherryville on Tuesday.
