Alex Pickerel went 3-for-4, Gabe Ellis drove in three runs and Zac Reeder was lights out in relief as North Lincoln’s baseball team downed host Statesville 8-5 in nine innings on Wednesday.
Reeder gave up an unearned run on two hits, walked three and struck out four in four innings for the win in relief of Mitchell Keener. Keener gave up four runs, three earned, on nine hits, walked two and struck out one in five innings.
Zach McGinnis had two hits, Ty Pauley had a hit, Ellis had a hit and Cameron Walker had a hit and an RBI for the Knights, who blew a 5-3 fifth-inning lead but scored three in the top of the ninth for the win.
North Lincoln (7-7, 4-3 North Piedmont 3A/4A) travels to South Iredell today.
MINT HILL QUEEN’S GRANT 2, LINCOLN CHARTER 0: At Queen’s Grant, the Eagles were held to one hit in the non-conference loss on Thursday.
Zach Hollar had a single. Barry Cheek gave up two runs on four hits and struck out four in the complete-game loss.

Booth Braswell, Ava Hicks, Heidi Parker, Sarah Thompson and Payton Mills had a single each. Taylor Wilson, Kaelyn Edwards, Maddie Hatfield and Carly Johnson had an RBI each. Johnson gave up one run on five hits, walked four and struck out three in the win.
