EL baseball stomps Rebels

Austin Buchanan went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Chris Tomberlin went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs as East Lincoln downed host West Lincoln in baseball, 13-5, on Tuesday.
Chase Watson went 3-for-4 and Chris Cox had a hit and two RBIs as the Mustangs trailed 5-4 after four innings but scored eight unanswered runs to stay a part of the three-way tie for first in the Southern District 7 Athletic 2A.
Tommy Garwood went 2-for-4 and Chandler Jenkins, Ashton Rana, Jake Bradley and Charles Mack George drove in a run each for the Rebels.
Nick Savoie gave up five runs, two earned, on six hits, walked two and struck out three in 4 2/3 innings for the win. Chandler Jenkins gave up eight runs, two earned, on nine hits, walked one and struck out five in the loss. West Lincoln committed seven errors.
East Lincoln (6-7, 6-1) hosts Bandys on Friday while West Lincoln (5-6, 3-4) travels to Lincolnton.

LINCOLN CHARTER 12, THOMAS JEFFERSON CLASSICAL ACADEMY 1, 5 INN.: At Lincoln Charter, the Eagles remained in second place in the Southern Piedmont 1A Conference.
Ian Chryst went 2-for-2 with three RBIs, Christian Hilty went 2-for-4, Nathaniel Scoggins had a hit and drove in three runs and Matt Stokes had a hit and drove in two runs. Hilty gave up one earned run on four hits, walked none and struck out 11 in the win.
Lincoln Charter (8-2, 6-1) has a non-conference game at Queen’s Grant on Thursday.
WEST IREDELL 6, NORTH LINCOLN 1: At North Lincoln, the Knights fell in a North Piedmont 3A/4A Conference game.
Ty Pauley had North Lincoln’s lone hit, a single in the first. Paul Cochrane gave up two runs on three hits, walked one and struck out three in the loss.
North Lincoln (6-6, 3-3) travels to Statesville today.

SOFTBALL
MAIDEN 10, LINCOLNTON 1: At Maiden, the Wolves fell in a SD-7 game. No other details were reported.
Lincolnton (4-5, 2-4) travels to Bunker Hill today.

GIRLS SOCCER
LINCOLN CHARTER 1, THOMAS JEFFERSON CLASSICAL ACADEMY 0: At Thomas Jefferson, the Eagles picked up a SP1A win in their conference opener on Monday.
Kali Snider scored and Caitlin Miller had the assist while Katherine Doyle had the shutout in goal.
Lincoln Charter (7-4, 1-0) hosts Cherryville today.
LAKE NORMAN 10, NORTH LINCOLN 1: At North Lincoln, the Knights fell in a NP3A/4A match.
Rachel Nuhfer’s goal prevented the shutout.
North Lincoln (0-4-1 NP3A/4A) travels to Statesville today.
MAIDEN 4, LINCOLNTON 3: At Maiden, the Wolves fell in a SD-7 match on Tuesday. No other details were reported.
Lincolnton (0-5 SD-7) hosts West Lincoln on Thursday.

BOYS GOLF
KNIGHTS WIN NP3A/4A MATCH: At Fox Den Country Club in Statesville, North Lincoln shot a 312 to win an 18-hole conference match by 17 strokes on Monday.
Alston Taylor was the medalist with a 73. Other scorers for North Lincoln were Ben Hager (84), Jake Haynes (79), Nick Steele (76), Aaron Digh (91) and Alex Prunier (97).
Lake Norman (329) finished second, followed by Mooresville (339), South Iredell (340), Alexander Central (349), Statesville (357), West Iredell (377) and North Iredell (430).
