County Extension Office offers scholarship to local students

The Lincoln County Extension and Community Association, Inc. is offering a $1,000 scholarship to high school seniors at each of the county’s four high schools.

While all students are eligible to apply, priority will be placed on applicants who are pursuing a career in Family and Consumer Sciences, such as Health or Food and Nutrition, Child Development or Early Child Development, Agriculture, Natural Resources, Forestry, 4-H, Community and Resource Development or other fields closely identified with the program areas of the NC Cooperative Extension Service. Students must be North Carolina residents currently attending a high school in Lincoln County, with plans to attend a North Carolina college or state community college. The applicant’s academic achievement, extracurricular activities and financial need will also be taken into account.

Forms are available from the guidance counselors at Lincolnton High School, North Lincoln High School, West Lincoln High School and East Lincoln High School, as well as from the NC Cooperative Extension Office in Lincolnton. The deadline date for applications is Thursday, April 17, 2014.  Those interested in more information should call the Cooperative Extension at (704) 736-8461.
