EL’s Johnson tosses perfect game in Mustangs’ romp of N-C

Carly Johnson was perfect Friday, retiring all 12 batters she faced as East Lincoln downed host Newton-Conover, 15-0, in four innings.
Johnson struck out four and walked none in the win. She also went 4-for-4 with two doubles, and added a three-run inside-the-park home run. Taylor Wilson went 2-for-2 with two doubles and four RBIs, Sarah Thompson went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and scored three runs, and Payton Mills went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
The Mustangs (3-4, 2-1 Southern District 7 Athletic 2A), tied for second with Bandys in the loss column, host West Caldwell on Tuesday.

NORTH LINCOLN 9, MOORESVILLE 2: At North Lincoln, the Knights picked up a North Piedmont 3A/4A Conference win.
Sidney Russell had three hits, three RBIs and a home run, Macie Parker had three hits and Jayden Maddox had three RBIs and a home run. Hollyn Franklin struck out eight in the win.
North Lincoln (6-1, 3-1), tied for second with Lake Norman, host the Wildcats on Tuesday.
WEST LINCOLN 9, WEST CALDWELL 0: At West Lincoln, the Rebels stayed perfect in the SD-7 with the win.
Cassidy Wise (8-1) struck out 13, walked one and gave up one hit in seven innings. Meredith Ferguson went 3-for-3 with an RBI, Kylee Leonhardt went 2-for-3 with a double, had three RBIs and stole three bases, and Lyla Sain went 2-for-3, and Alex Goins had a double and two RBIs.
West Lincoln (8-1, 4-0) travels to Maiden on Tuesday.
LINCOLNTON 2, BANDYS 1, 9 INN.: At Lincolnton, the Wolves picked up their first conference win on Thursday behind two hits from Allison Brown and two hits from Courtney Campbell. Campbell also picked up the win. She struck out five, walked two and allowed no earned runs on seven hits.

BASEBALL

LINCOLN CHARTER 4, BESSEMER CITY 1: At Lincoln Charter, the Eagles defeated the Yellow Jackets Friday to move into sole possession of second place in the Southern Piedmont 1A Conference.
Christian Hilty went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Barry Cheek had a hit, Andy Jones had an RBI, and Nathaniel Scoggins had a double. Zach Hollar, who had a hit and an RBI, struck out nine and scattered five hits in the complete-game win.
Lincoln Charter (4-2, 2-1), which trails only league-leading Cherryville (6-2, 4-0) in the standings, travels to Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy today.
WEST CALDWELL 7, WEST LINCOLN 0: At West Lincoln, the Warriors scored five runs in the seventh for the win.
Chandler Jenkins went 1-for-2 with a walk. He also gave up one run on one hit and struck out six in five innings of work, but Warriors starter Tre Harper countered. He pitched a two-hit shutout for the win. West Lincoln reliever Kenny Stevens gave up six runs, five earned, in two innings of relief in the loss.
The Rebels (4-4, 2-2) travel to Maiden on Tuesday.
NORTH LINCOLN 6, MOORESVILLE 5: At North Lincoln, the Knights earned a NP3A/4A win. No other details were reported.
North Lincoln (6-3, 3-1) hosts league-leading and undefeated Lake Norman on Tuesday. The Knights are in a three-way tie for second with Alexander Central and West Iredell.
EAST LINCOLN 7, NEWTON-CONOVER 3: At Newton-Conover, the Mustangs defeated the Red Devils for a SD-7 win. No other details were reported.
East Lincoln (3-7, 3-1) hosts West Caldwell on Tuesday. The Mustangs are in a three-way tie for second, which includes the Warriors and Bunker Hill.

Tori Jackson and Kali Snider scored a goal each while Caitlyn Miller and Snider had an assist each.
Lincoln Charter (5-3) opens SP1A play on Wednesday at home against Pine Lake Prep.
