Brother stabbing ruled self-defense

Staff report

A Vale man was transported to Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby with life-threatening injuries on Wednesday after being stabbed by his brother.

Rodney Scott Wright, 45, was stabbed in the abdomen with a pocketknife by his brother, John A. Wright, 43, according to an incident report from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s Office officials said Rodney Wright was stabbed in self-defense and no charges were being filed against John Wright.

The brothers got into an argument at their mother’s house, and Rodney Wright struck John Wright with a wine bottle. Rodney Wright then went outside, picked up a wooden handle, and re-entered the house, when his brother stabbed him.

Rodney Wright was listed in stable condition, according to a press release.

Rodney Wright was charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods in January by the Sheriff’s Office.
