Grace B. Frazier

Grace B. Frazier of Lincolnton died Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the age of 91.

Her graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Walnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Moravian Falls with Rev. Dr. Stanley Spence officiating.

Grace was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lincolnton.

Survivors include, son, Robert A. Frazier of Lincolnton; son, Eric D. Frazier and wife Nancy of Columbus, Ga.; one sister, Zelma B. Helton of North Wilkesboro; one granddaughter, Jacqueline Grace Frazier Knox, and her husband Justin Knox, and their children Caroline Grace and Justin “Bo” Knox II. Also, Grace was survived by one other great-grandson, Taylor J. Frazier of Columbus, Ga.

Grace was preceded in death by husband, R. Don Frazier and grandson John E. Frazier.

Grace and her late husband were owners of “Frazier’s Photographic Studio” for 42 years in Lincolnton. Grace was an artist and photographer, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

A note from her two sons: Mom was a great and loving Mother, great Christian and a beautiful person both on the inside as well as the outside. GOD is Great!

Irene Haynes Gurley

NEWTON — Irene Helen Haynes Gurley, 82, of Newton passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Born March 31, 1931 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Martha Haynes.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Thomas Edward Gurley and three sisters preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Tony Drum and wife Marian and Robin Drum, both of Newton; two granddaughters, Mickie Drum of Newton and Megan Klipp of Charlotte; grandson, Robbie Drum of Newton; brother, Clarence Haynes Jr. of Conover.

The funeral service will be held Friday, March 21, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church in Maiden with Dr. Bud Painter officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Burke Mortuary in Maiden.

Loy Hoyle

Loy Farrell Hoyle, 83, of Vale passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Somerset Court in Cherryville.

He was born in Cleveland County on April 4, 1930, to the late Roland Hoyle and Minnie Chapman Hoyle. He was retired from Hickory White Manufacturing as a furniture assembler.  He was a member of Reeps Grove United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Loy is preceded in death by his wife, Connie Jonas Hoyle; son, Ronald Hoyle; five brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his two daughters, Joyce Elaine Frye and husband Daniel of Hickory and Gail Harris of Hickory; brother, Bill Hoyle of Vale; sister, Valeria Ann Hovis of Lincolnton; and two grandchildren, Dr. Jennifer I. Hoyle and Bradley Harris.

A private graveside service was held on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Reeps Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harry Andrews officiating. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Reeps Grove United Church with Rev. Harry Andrews officiating.

Billy Lee Tallmon Jr.

CROUSE — Billy Lee Tallmon Jr., 56, SSGT US Army Retired, passed away March 14, 2014 at home. He was born on December 8, 1957 in Cleveland, Ohio to Patricia Bowser Tallmon of Cornelius and the late Billy Lee Tallmon Sr.

In addition to his mother, Billy is survived by his wife, Elaine; children, Christopher Bryant (Misty Dellinger) of Denver, Benjamin Bryant (Meghann Peterson) of Crouse, Kathryn Bryant of Wilmington, Kevin and Kyle Tallmon both of Charlotte; brothers, Robert Tallmon of Troutman and Larry Tallmon of Davidson; sister, Patricia Carollo of Huntersville; four grandchildren; and an uncle to many and a nephew to several.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at A Simple Service, 451 Hospital Drive, Gastonia, NC 28054. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.

William Austin Towery

Mr. William Austin Towery, age 81, of 3260 Reepsville Road in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, March 16, 2014.

His funeral service will be 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Roy T. Byers officiating. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. this evening at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Towery was born June 26, 1932 to the late Burt and Laura Jane Turner Towery. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Devette Dedmon Towery, and second wife Stella Towery. He worked as a dye house foreman.

He is survived by two daughters, Gail Gunter of Maiden and Carolyn Reeise of Oklahoma; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Della Faye Scism Murray, 75, of Waco, died March 15, 2014.

Visitation will be held today from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on March 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Waco Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will be at Capernaum Cemetery in Waco.
