Deputies said they charged a 35-year-old Caldwell County man Friday with raping a Lincoln County teen two years ago.
The incidents took place in March 2012 at the victim’s home, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.
The Department of Social Services notified the law enforcement agency of the alleged incidents on Feb. 10.
Matthew Chad Beaver and the victim knew each other, deputies said.
The suspect, a resident of 2270 Perry Lane in Lenoir, was charged with two felony counts each of statutory rape of a 13-, 14-, or 15-year-old by a defendant six years older and statutory sex offense of a 13-, 14-, or 15-year-old by a defendant six years older.
Deputies served two of the warrants on Beaver on Friday and the final two Monday.
Sheriff’s Detective Dan Renn investigated the case.
Beaver also appeared before a magistrate Monday and was issued a higher bond, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Originally placed under an $80,000 secured bond, the suspect’s current bond is $160,000.
Beaver, who remains in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center, maintains misdemeanor drug-related offenses on his record, according to the North Carolina Department of Correction website.
Convictions for possession of both a schedule VI controlled substance and drug paraphernalia were handed down by a Caldwell County judge in 1997.
