WL softball stomps Bunker Hill

Lyla Sain went 4-for-4 with four RBIs, Kylee Leonhardt was 3-for-3 and Meredith Ferguson went 4-for-5 with a double and drove in five runs Friday as West Lincoln’s softball team crushed host Bunker Hill 16-1 in six innings.
Katie Hively went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs, Heather Truesdale had a triple and a walk. Erin Huff also added a hit and an RBI.
Cassidy Wise (6-1) struck out 10, walked one and allowed five hits in the complete-game win.
West Lincoln (6-1, 2-0 Southern District 7 Athletic 2A) travels to Newton-Conover on Tuesday.

EAST LINCOLN 3, LINCOLNTON 0: At East Lincoln, the Mustangs pitched a two-hit shutout in the SD-7 win.
Carly Johnson went 2-for-3 with a triple, Kaelyn Edwards went 1-for-2 with an RBI, Sarah Thompson went 1-for-3 with an RBI, Booth Braswell went 2-for-3 and stole three bases, and Madison Hatfield had a hit for East Lincoln.
Johnson struck out 12 and walked one in the complete game win.
The Mustangs (2-4, 1-2) host Bunker Hill today while Lincolnton (1-3, 0-3) hosts Bandys on Tuesday.
ALEXANDER CENTRAL 11, NORTH LINCOLN 0, 5 INN.: At Alexander Central, the Knights’ first loss of the season came to the nation’s second-ranked team in a North Piedmont 3A/4A contest.
Sidney Russell went 2-for-3, and Hollyn Franklin and Courtney Trickle had a hit each. Franklin suffered the loss. She gave up 10 runs on eight hits and walked two in 3 2/3 innings.
North Lincoln (4-1, 1-1) travels to North Iredell on Tuesday.
WEST LINCOLN 10, CHERRYVILLE 5, 8 INN.: At Cherryville, the Rebels picked up a non-conference win on Thursday.
Kylee Leonhardt went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs, Ashley Callahan went 2-for-4 with an RBI, Heather Truesdale was 2-for-3, Karsen Leonhardt was 2-for-5 with an RBI, Katie Hively went 2-for-5 and Meredith Ferguson (RBI) and Raeven McCrodden had a hit each.
Cassidy Wise went all eight innings in the win. She struck out four, walked two, gave up nine hits and allowed four earned runs.

BASEBALL

LINCOLN CHARTER 3, HUNTERSVILLE SOUTHLAKE CHRISTIAN 0: At Lincoln Charter, the Eagles picked up a non-conference win on Saturday.
Zach Hollar went the distance in the one-hit shutout. He struck out eight and walked two.
Ian Chryst went 2-for-3, Adam Hutson had a hit, scored a run and drove in a run, Hollar scored a run, Andy Jones had a hit, Kameron Reynolds had a hit and scored a run and Christian Hilty had a hit.
The Eagles (2-2) travel to Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy today for a Southern Piedmont 1A Conference game.
WEST LINCOLN 15, VALDESE DRAUGHN 13: At Draughn, the Rebels picked up a non-conference win by rallying late.
Down 13-10, the Rebels scored five unanswered runs in the final two innings. Tommy Garwood went 2-for-4 with a walk and scored two runs, Alec Johnson had a hit and drove in two runs, Chandler Jenkins went 2-for-4 with a double and drove in two runs, Tanner Bolton had a hit and an RBI, Charles Mack George had two hits and an RBI, Jake Bradley had a three-run homer, Ashton Rana drove in a run with a hit and Ethan Heafner had an RBI.
Kenny Stevens picked up the win. He gave up two runs on one hit, walked three and struck out three. Chandler Jenkins pitched a scoreless seventh with a strikeout for the save.
West Lincoln (3-3) travels to Newton-Conover on Tuesday.
CHERRYVILLE 7, LINCOLN CHARTER 3: At Cherryville, the Eagles dropped their SP1A opener on Friday.
Wyatt Johnsen had two singles, a double, and drove in two runs, Matt Stokes had three hits and scored a run, Nick Roser had a two hits, and Nathaniel Scoggins had a solo home run and stole a base.
Scoggins took the loss. He gave up six runs, four earned, in four innings of work. He allowed eight hits, struck out five and walked three.
ALEXANDER CENTRAL 9, NORTH LINCOLN 2: At Alexander Central, the Knights were handed their first NP3A/4A loss.
Mitchell Keener went 2-for-2 and scored a run for North Lincoln, which was held to two hits.
Zach Reeder gave up seven runs, four earned, on six hits and five walks in the loss.
The Knights (3-3, 1-1) travel to North Iredell on Tuesday.
BUNKER HILL 13, WEST LINCOLN 3, 5 INN.: At Bunker Hill, the Bears beat the Rebels (1-1 SD-7) in a conference game and held them to four hits.
Cody Dellinger went 2-for-2 with a walk and Chandler Jenkins went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Alec Johnson drove in a run and Ashton Rana drove in a run.
Johnson suffered the loss. He gave up seven runs, five earned, on seven hits, walked two and struck out four.

GIRLS SOCCER

NORTH LINCOLN 4, LINCOLNTON 0: At Lincolnton, the Knights picked up a non-conference win against Lincolnton. No other details were reported.
North Lincoln hosts South Iredell in its NP3A/4A opener today while Lincolnton travels to Highland Tech today for a non-conference match.
