The Lincoln County Rotary Club is gearing up for its 21st Annual Auction for Education.
This year, the auction will be held on April 10-12 at 6 p.m. each night at the James Warren Citizens Center in downtown Lincolnton. For the past 20 years, the county’s rotary clubs have assisted Lincoln County students by offering low-interest student loans.
“I couldn’t be more proud of this auction,” 2014 Auction Chair Dr. Becky Reavis said. “The Lincoln County Rotary Auction for Education is the primary reason I joined Rotary. Receiving a student loan from Rotary certainly helped me fulfill my dream of getting a great college education.”
Through the organization, the Rotary Student Loan Fund has loaned nearly $4 million to deserving college students in Lincoln County. Approximately 1,700 students have received those loans.
“It really is amazing how the community has accepted this fundraiser and stepped up to make it the success that it is,” Reavis said. “…We have many different sponsorships at varying levels that many local businesses eagerly support each year. They and individuals from the community generously donate all the items we sell at our auction…without all those businesses and individuals, these student loans would not be possible.”
