Child abuse awareness
Today through April 11, the Lincoln County 4-H Office will be collecting knitted or crocheted color strips to be placed around a tree on the courthouse lawn. The effort is called “The Healing Tree.” The strips must be 6-12 inches wide and 31 inches long. Each strip will represent a child victim and may be dropped off at the 4-H Office, 115 W. St. Patrick’s Day party
The Lincoln County Senior Center, 514 S. Academy St. on the Gaston College-Lincoln campus in Lincolnton, will host a St. Patrick’s Day party 9:30-11:30 a.m. with games, fun, food and music. Call (704) 732-9053(704) 732-9053 to reserve a spot.

College board meeting
Gaston College Board of Trustee Chair James Smith will visit the Lincoln Campus 9:30 a.m. at 511 S. Aspen St. in Lincolnton.

SGA appreciation
Gaston College will host a meet and greet for transfer students 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. along with an SGA Appreciation Day at 511 S. Aspen St. in Lincolnton.

WEDNESDAY
Spay/neuter registration

The Humane Society of Lincoln County will host registration for their upcoming low-cost spay/neuter clinic (April 1) 1-4 p.m. at 2422 Country Club Rd. in Lincolnton. Payment in the form of cash or check is due at registration. Line dancing
The Lincoln County Senior Center, 514 S. Academy St. on the Gaston College-Lincoln campus in Lincolnton, will host line dance lessons 10-11 a.m. for ages 60 and up. Lessons will be every Wednesday in March. Cost is $2. For more information, call (704) 732-9053(704) 732-9053.

LAHRA meeting
The Lincolnton Area Human Resource Assocation (LAHRA) will meet 11:45 a.m. at the Homestead Grill & Taphouse in Lincolnton. Caregiver workshop
Today is the final day to register for Wexford House’s upcoming workshop “What Every Adult Child Should Know.” The event will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 3900 Wexford Ln. in Denver. Lincoln County Senior Services is hosting the event.

School event
G.E. Massey Elementary School, 130 Newbold St. in Lincolnton, will host PLANETS portable planetarium for children, parents and media 5-5:20 p.m., 5:30-5:50 p.m., 6-6:20 p.m. and 6:30-6:50 p.m. Students will explore stars and identify constellations with an expert/educator from Morehead Planetarium and Science Center in Chapel Hill.

Diabetes discussion
CMC-Lincoln will host a discussion “Your Blood Sugar Meter” 6 p.m. at Sally’s YMCA, Forney Creek Pkwy. in Denver. Light refreshments will be provided.

Lincoln Quilters
Lincoln Quilters will meet 7 p.m. at the Citizens Center in downtown Lincolnton. Cindy Beal will present the program “Cabin Fever-Log Cabin Quilts.” Visitors are welcome.
