The Lincoln County Cooperative Extension is looking for T-shirt designs for this fall’s annual Apple Festival.
The winning design will be printed on shirts and sold by an area nonprofit, Extension officials said.
In years past, non-profit organizations such as Lincoln County Coalition Against Child Abuse and Amy’s House, among others, “won the right to sell the T-shirts,” Extension Administrative Assistant Joyce Dorsey said.
In order to be selected, non-profit groups must submit an application to the Extension Office and describe how funds from the T-shirt sale will benefit the local community and “other worthy causes,” the application states.
“(The contest) is just another way that the Apple Festival Board gives back to the community by allowing a non-profit to earn money,” Dorsey said.
The Apple Festival Board will determine the winner later next month.
The top three designs will receive a monetary prize including $200 for first place, $100 for second place and $75 for third place.
Design applicants must be residents of Lincoln County.
Applications may be submitted to the following address: Lincoln County Apple Festival, Attn: Joyce Dorsey, 115 West Main Street, Lincolnton, N.C. 28092.
The deadline for both design and nonprofit applications is April 1.
