A 26-year-old felon is accused of inappropriately touching a teen girl last month, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies arrested Barry George Fredell, of 4132 Biggerstaff Road, on Friday.
According to the arrest warrant, the Sheriff’s Office said, the suspect “unlawfully, willfully and feloniously did take and attempt to take immoral, improper and indecent liberties with a female under the age of 16 for the purpose of arousing and gratifying sexual desire.”
The victim’s mother told deputies her daughter visited a home where Fredell was staying on Feb. 19, when the incident allegedly occurred.
Fredell was charged with one felony count of taking indecent liberties with a minor.
Deputies also served him two misdemeanor warrants for probation violation, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Fredell, whose appeared in court on Tuesday, is currently being held in the Lincoln County jail under a $55,000 secured bond.
His criminal record includes felony convictions in the county from 2010 for possessing stolen goods and selling and delivering a controlled substance, according to the North Carolina Department of Correction website.
He also record also contains misdemeanor offenses for assault with a deadly weapon and wanton injury.
