Lincoln County’s Board of Education members will discuss four Design-Build proposals for school renovations at their meeting Tuesday night.

Last week, board members heard presentations from firms G.L. Wilson Building Company of Statesville, Matthews Construction of Conover, R.J. Leeper Construction of Charlotte and Hickory Construction Company of Hickory. The projects include the construction of a new Asbury school building and the East Lincoln High School Field House renovation.  Each firm was given 45 minutes to present their proposals for both construction projects.

Associate Superintendent Matt Stover outlined the four proposals at the Feb. 26 meeting prior to interviewing the firms. With both of the projects designated as “design-build” projects, committee members believe that the approach will not only save money but offer a shorter construction time. This will be the first time Lincoln County Schools has tried the “design-build” approach.

Special recognition and awards will be presented to winners of the NCHSAAA Individual Wrestling State Championship, the Spirit of North Carolina award and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Regional Teacher of the Year.

Items also on the agenda include:

Middle School AIG Placement Criteria

2012-2016 Lincoln County Schools Technology Plan

Calendar Proposal for the 2014-2015 School Year

School Facility Fee Waiver Request

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Mar. 11 at 6:30 p.m.  at the Lincoln County Schools building in Lincolnton.
