Hollyn Franklin had six strikeouts and Sidney Russell had three hits, including a solo home run, as North Lincoln’s softball team remained undefeated with a 6-2 win over visiting East Rutherford on Wednesday.
Courtney Trickle and Karson Parker drove in runs and Russell had a total of three RBIs.
The Knights (3-0) will open North Piedmont 3A/4A Conference play on Tuesday with a home game against South Iredell. Their non-conference game at West Lincoln on Thursday was postponed to a later date due to inclement weather.
SOUTH POINT 7, EAST LINCOLN 5: At South Point, the Mustangs gave up a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning in the loss.
Haley Stewart hit the game-winning homer as the Red Raiders trailed 5-3 entering the final half-inning. East Lincoln scored three runs in the top of the inning to take the lead.
Carly Johnson went the distance in the loss. She gave up six earned runs on six hits, walked four and struck out six. Taylor Wilson went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs, Heidi Parker went 2-for-3 and Booth Braswell had a hit, drove in a run and scored two.
McDOWELL 6, LINCOLN CHARTER 5: At Lincoln Charter, the Eagles dropped a non-conference game to the Titans.
Morgan McGee had a hit and drove in two runs, Lilly Presley went 2-for-4 with a double, Kayla Helms went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Josie Weber went 4-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI to lead Lincoln Charter. McDowell broke a 5-5 tie with a run in the top of the sixth.
The Eagles (1-1) open Southern Piedmont 1A Conference play today with a game at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy.
WEST LINCOLN 9, FRED T. FOARD 1: At Fred T. Foard, the Rebels picked up a non-conference win on Wednesday. No other details were reported.
West Lincoln (3-1) hosts Lincolnton to open Southern District 7 Athletic 2A Conference play on Tuesday.

EAST LINCOLN 2, FORESTVIEW 0: At Forestview, the Mustangs handed the Jaguars their first loss of the season behind the pitching of Nick Savoie and Chris Cox on Wednesday.
Savoie (2-0) lasted five scoreless innings with four strikeouts while giving up three hits. Cox earned his first save with a pair of scoreless, hitless frames with a strikeout.
The Mustangs scored in the first on a hit aided by a walk and an error. They added to their lead in the sixth with a run on three hits.
Savoie went 2-for-3 with an RBI, Chase Watson went 1-for-3 with an RBI and Austin Buchanan and Alec Burleson each went 1-for-3 and scored a run.
East Lincoln (2-2) travels to Cherryville for a game today at 4:30 p.m.
NORTH LINCOLN-WEST LINCOLN POSTPONED: Wednesday’s non-conference games at West Lincoln were postponed. The teams will play at North Lincoln as scheduled on Saturday, with JVs playing two five-inning games beginning at 11 a.m. The varsity teams will play one seven-inning game scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
The varsity teams will meet at West Lincoln on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. to complete their regular season series.
SHELBY 2, EAST LINCOLN 1: At East Lincoln, the Mustangs dropped Wednesday’s non-conference match. No other details were reported.
East Lincoln (0-2-1) will host the four-team Andy Kosmala Tournament beginning today. South Point will face South Iredell at 5 p.m. today while the Mustangs will face North Lincoln. On Saturday, North Lincoln will face South Point at 5 p.m. and East Lincoln will face South Iredell at 7.
