Crouse resident Mike Davis filed on Friday for one of the two County Commissioner seats available in this year’s election. A native of Lincoln County, Davis is the third Republican candidate to run for a commissioner seat. Other candidates include Martin Oakes and Bill Beam.
While Davis does not have a background in politics, he said he possesses business management and heavy construction skills as the owner of Davis Brothers Automotive and Fairview Farms of Crouse.
Davis released a statement after filing, and said that he plans to assist the less fortunate members of the county.
“I am concerned about the people of Lincoln County that cannot afford to get groceries, feed their families, clothe their families, get medical care, or get their automobiles repaired,” Davis said.
His concerns also include the high tax rates on properties and the lack of voice property owners have in the Unified Development Ordinance.
“North, South, East, and West areas all need a voice in the Unified Development Ordinance,” he said. “There needs to be a survey sent out to each of the tax payers of Lincoln County to have a voice in the budget to where the money is allocated.”
The deadline for filing is noon on Friday, Feb. 28.
