Lincoln Charter’s girls have a chance to back up their first regular season basketball title in school history.
Caitlin Miller scored 14 points and Eboni Tinsley added 11 as the Eagles pulled away in the second half to down Highland Tech 54-30 in a Southern Piedmont 1A Conference tournament semifinal at Cherryville High School on Thursday.
Lincoln Charter (21-1) will face second-seeded Bessemer City, an 81-50 winner in the other semifinal, at 6 p.m. today at Cherryville for the championship.
A tie game at the half, the Eagles outscored Highland Tech (9-13) 27-13 in the second half.
Lincoln Charter has already clinched the league’s top playoff seed, and should draw a home game when the NCHSAA state playoffs begin on Monday.
The Eagles defeated the Yellow Jackets (16-8) 48-39 and 59-36 in the teams’ regular season meetings.

Christian Hilty scored 20 points and hit five 3-pointers, and Amir Davis scored 19 but the top-seeded Ironmen pulled away in the fourth quarter to end the Eagles’ run in the conference tournament.
Grant Henderson scored 25 points and D.J. Cunningham added 22 for Cherryville, which will face third-seeded Bessemer City, a 75-36 winner over Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy in the other semifinal, at 7:45 tonight in the championship game.
After leading by five at the break 36-31, the Ironmen (22-2) closed the third quarter on a 9-3 run, and outscored the Eagles (10-16) 22-13 in the final quarter.
Lincoln Charter, which defeated Community School of Davidson 70-52 on Wednesday to advance, will await its playoff fate until Saturday.
