Pageant registration
The Miss Gastonia Scholarship Association is looking for girls ages 0-19 to register to participate in the Miss Valentine Queen Pageant 11 a.m. Fegb. 15 at the Cherryville Community Building, 106 South Jacob Street. Girls from Gaston, Cleveland, Lincoln and surrounding counties may enter. Proceeds benefit the Miss Gastonia Scholarship Fund. Apron workshop
The Lincoln County Senior Center will host another fidget apron workshop at 514 S. Academy St. in Lincolnton. Aprons will be handed out to area residents with memory loss. Lunch will be provided at the workshop. Individuals are needed who can hand stitch and sew and can bring a sewing machine. For more information, call (704) 736-8410.

Church breakfast
Marvin UMC, Startown Rd. in Lincolnton, will host a breakfast buffet 7-10 a.m. Cost is $6. Proceeds will benefit the parsonage fund. The Methodist Women’s group will also be selling baked goods and candy.

Overeaters Anonymous
Overeaters Anonymous will meet 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2639 E. N.C. 150 in Lincolnton (white building in back). For more information, call Robbie at (704) 616-2630. The group meets each Saturday.

Church dinner                                                                                                                       
Meadow Ridge Church, 1173 Zeb Haynes Rd. in Maiden, will host a spaghetti dinner 4-7 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the church building fund.Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Take-out or dine-in options will be available. For more information, call Kathy at (828) 428-1463.

CAC fundraiser
Lincoln County Coalition Against Child Abuse and the Child Advocacy Center will host its annual “Price is Right” fundraiser 6 p.m. at the Citizens Center in Lincolnton. Doors open at 5 p.m. A number of prizes will be available. Activities will also include a silent auction, cafe and pre-show entertainment. Cost is $10. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at any First Federal Bank location or by calling (704) 736-1155. Spaghetti dinner
Crowell Memorial UMC, 4018 Killian Rd. in Lincolnton, will host a Valentine’s spaghetti dinner and cake auction at 6 p.m. Proceeds will benefit Amy’s House, the local battered women’s shelter. For more information, call (704) 735-8889.

The River Oaks Band will perform 7 p.m. at 2910 Killian Rd. in Lincolnton. The performance will in memory of Bud Long. Children under 12 will not be admitted.

Church concert
Coral Park Baptist Church, 295 Springs East Rd. in Lincolnton, will host Truly Blessed, of Clover, S.C., in concert at 7 p.m.

Boy Scout Sunday 
Crouse UMC, 2376 Pleasant Grove Ch. Rd. in Crouse, will host a bbq fundraiser at 11 a.m. to benefit area Boy Scouts.

Church meal
Macedonia UMC, Macedonia Ch. Rd. in Vale, will host a soup and sandwich supper 12:30-2 p.m.

Volleyball league
Lincoln County Parks & Rec. is offering a women’s volleyball league every Sunday through March 9 at the East Lincoln Coummunity Center in Denver. Games start 2:30 p.m. and continue throughout the afternoon. For more information, call Lindsay at (704) 483-8980.

College orientation
Gaston College will hold a four-day Basic Skills New Student Orientation class 5:30-8:30 p.m. in room 118 of the Lincoln Campus, 511 S. Aspen St. in Lincolnton. Additional classes will be Feb 11-13 and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Feb. 24-27. Classes are for students interested in obtaining a GED or Adult High School diploma. For more information, call 704-748-5226.

Coalition of Churches
Lincoln County Coalition of Churches will meet 7 p.m. at Oaklawn School in Lincolnton. Plans for the Black History Program and other issues will be discussed. The public is invited to attend.

NARFE meeting

McDonalds night                                                                                                                      
Pumpkin Center Primary School will host a fundraising event 5-8 p.m. at the McDonalds restaurant in Boger City. Grimace will be on hand. Each child will also receive a free tasty surprise. All monies raised will be used towards the purchase of technology and basic school supplies for PCP classrooms.

Line dancing

A Place to Grow in Lincolnton will display artwork from children involved in the organization’s program during a special gallery exhibit through Feb. 28 in the Carolina Mills and Cochrane Galleries at the Cultural Center.
