More than $1,000 in prescription pills were stolen from a western county store Friday morning, deputies said.

The incident took place just before 2:30 a.m. at TAS Drug, located at 4417 West N.C. 27 in Vale, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

When detectives arrived on the scene, no one was inside the business, nor was it ransacked, deputies said.

However, the store’s rear door had been completely removed from its hinges, according to an agency press release issued Monday afternoon.

When the store manager arrived, he searched the inside of the business and discovered, based on store inventory, that Hydrocodone pills worth in excess of $1,000 had been taken.

No arrests have been made at this time, but an investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the incident can call the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at (704)732-9050, the Lincoln County Communications Center at (704) 735-8202 or Crime Stoppers at (704) 736-8909.

Tips may remain anonymous, and any tip leading to an arrest may result in a reward of up to $1,000.
