Brooke Blevins scored 14 points and Bunker Hill’s girls held host West Lincoln to two points in the first quarter in the Bears’ 46-25 win on Thursday.
Bunker Hill (11-7, 7-2 Southern District 7 Athletic 2A) led 11-2 after the first quarter and 24-10 at halftime.
Madison Ferguson led West Lincoln with six points and Erin Huff added five. The Rebels (5-13, 0-9) haven’t won since knocking off North Lincoln in the opening round of the Peoples Bank Holiday Clash last month.
ALEXANDER CENTRAL 95, NORTH LINCOLN 26: At North Lincoln, the Cougars remained undefeated in North Piedmont 3A/4A play. No other details were reported.
The Knights (0-19, 0-9) are scheduled to host North Iredell tonight. Iredell-Statesville Schools canceled school for today, and school administrators were scheduled to meet this morning to determine whether athletics can be held.
LINCOLN CHARTER-THOMAS JEFFERSON ACADEMY MOVED TO NEXT WEEK: Tuesday’s Southern Piedmont 1A Conference basketball matchup between the Eagles and host Gryphons will be played on Wednesday, Lincoln Charter Athletic Director Daniel Schmitz said.
The teams were scheduled to make up Tuesday’s postponed game on Thursday, but TJA closed school and was not able to play.
The Eagles host Bessemer City today.
BUNKER HILL 63, WEST LINCOLN 45: At West Lincoln, the Bears pulled away in the third quarter for the SD-7 win.
After trailing by as many as 10 in the first half, West Lincoln (1-17, 0-9) pulled to within five in the third quarter, but the Bears (11-7, 5-4) were able to close it out.
A.J. Hines led Bunker Hill with 15 points and J’len Wilson added 13. Brandon Houser led the Rebels with 13 points and 16 rebounds, and Dylan Frady scored 11.
ALEXANDER CENTRAL 48, NORTH LINCOLN 40: At North Lincoln, the Knights fell to the Cougars in an NP3A/4A game. No other details were reported.
North Lincoln fell to 6-13 overall and 1-8 in the league, and into last place. Alexander Central is now 12-7, 6-3.
WEST LINCOLN-BUNKER HILL TO WRESTLE TODAY: Tuesday’s SD-7 match between the Rebels and host Bears will take place today at 6 p.m. at River Bend Middle School in Claremont.
The match was originally postponed to Thursday, but it was unable to be completed. It will be held at the middle school because Bunker Hill hosts East Lincoln tonight in basketball.
