East Lincoln’s boys basketball team exploded for 50 points in the second half and went on to defeat visiting Bandys 89-62 in a Southern District 7 Athletic 2A Conference game on Friday.
Chazz Surratt had a game-high 26 points and added nine assists and seven steals to lead the Mustangs (15-2, 6-2). Sage Surratt had 21 points and seven rebounds, Charlie Hills added 16 points and Connor Ashley scored nine.
Dylan Wambold had a team-high 20 points for the Trojans (8-8, 3-4).
The win coupled by Newton-Conover’s 66-55 win over West Caldwell pulled the Mustangs into a tie for second with the Warriors (10-6, 6-2). The Red Devils (12-3, 6-0) have a two-game lead in the loss column on the rest of the conference field.
SOUTH IREDELL 54, NORTH LINCOLN 49: At South Iredell, the Vikings knocked off the Knights. No other details were reported.
The loss put North Lincoln (6-12, 1-7 North Piedmont 3A/4A) into a tie for last place with West Iredell (1-15, 1-7).
BANDYS 89, EAST LINCOLN 14: At East Lincoln, the state’s top-ranked 2A girls team stayed unbeaten with the win.
Madi Story led five in double figures with 20 points for the Trojans (16-0, 7-0), who outscored the Mustangs (3-14, 1-7) 58-5 in the first half.

SOUTH IREDELL 65, NORTH LINCOLN 23: At South Iredell, the Vikings won big over the winless Knights. No other details were reported.
