A Denver business employee has been charged with embezzling nearly $1,000 in store funds last month, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.
Jimmy Trejo, 25, of 5161 Reepsville Road in Vale, took money from the Auto Zone store on N.C. 73 on two separate occasions in December, according to deputies.
Trejo stole $675.70 in cash from a register where he worked on Dec. 19, followed by $236.38 the next day, a Sheriff’s Office report said.
A Regional Loss Prevention Manager noticed the missing money and alerted the county law enforcement agency.
The employee was arrested for the alleged incidents on Tuesday after meeting with the store manager and admitting to the theft, the report said.
Trejo was terminated from the store and placed in the Lincoln County jail under a $5,000 secured bond.
He faces two counts of embezzlement.
