An eastern Lincoln County library reopened Monday morning after being closed due to significant damage triggered by the extreme cold weather last week.
The Florence S. Shanklin Library in Denver was forced to close after officials learned below-average temperatures caused the facility’s boiler and several water pipes to break. County officials report that the seven breaks in the water pipes, which resulted in minor water damage at the front of the building, have been repaired. The library’s boiler has been replaced.
The library branch has resumed its normal schedule for library hours and services. All overdue fines on materials returned to the Shanklin Branch before 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17 will be waived. For more information, contact the Charles R. Jonas Library at (704) 735-8044.
