Herman Lee Sisk Sr.
Mr. Herman Lee Sisk Sr., age 81, of 3030 E. Highway 150 in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, January 12, 2014.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2014, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Ingle officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at 3030 E. Highway 150 in Lincolnton.
Mr. Sisk was born May 15, 1932 in Lincoln County to the late Gordon and Nettie Lawing Sisk. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and upon discharge, worked as a meat cutter for Caldwell Meat Processing.
He is survived by a son, Herman L. Sisk Jr. and wife Terri of Del.; two daughters, Barbara Duhon and husband Larry of Lincolnton and Rita McGuigan of Maiden; a brother, Ralph Sisk of Lincolnton; companion, Jessie Hendricks and her extended family; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his former wife, Mary Sisk of Del.

Edith Dean Joines Saunders Busby
Mrs. Edith Dean Joines Saunders Busby, 81, of 111 Deaton Ave in Lincolnton died on January 14, 2014.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday January 16, 2014 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Tom Shoemate officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton. The family will receive friends this evening at Warlick Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Mrs. Busby was a native of Gaston County born on April 8, 1932 daughter of the late Lindsey and Ellen Beer Joines. Mrs. Busby was preceded in death by her husband Robert Saunders and one brother Barney Joines. She was a retired textile employee.
Survivors include two daughters, Dale Ritz and husband Joe of Fort Mill S.C. and Diane Baker and husband Richard of Lattimore; five grandchildren Angie Montuori and husband Perry, Michael Turner, Donna Upchurch and husband Eric, Robert Hutchison and wife Angie, and Krystal Heffner and husband Jimmy; nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Juanita Lemons Clark
Juanita Lemons Clark, 85, of Lincolnton passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center Lincoln, Lincolnton.
Born July 14, 1928 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Lemons and the late Addie Summers Lemons. In addition to her parents, husband, Charles Clark; brother, June Lemons; sister, Ruby Bumgarner and son-in-law, Michael Loggins preceded her in death.
She is survived by three daughters, Terri Loggins of Winston-Salem, Elaine and husband, Ron Miller of Statesville, Gaye and husband, Rev. Bud Painter of Lincolnton; two sisters, Doris Jenkins and husband, Dave (Fat) Jenkins of Maiden, Twila Sipe and the late Lewis Sipe of Newton; one brother, Don Lemons and wife Ann of Newton; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held January 14, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Maiden with Rev. Bud Painter officiating. Burial followed at Eastview Cemetery in Newton. The family received friends prior to the service from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Maiden.

Dorothy ‘Dot’ Jane Seagle Johnson
Dorothy (Dot) Jane Seagle Johnson, of Hickory, formerly of Lincolnton, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014. She was born July 8, 1925, daughter of the late Freddie L. and Bessie Mosteller Seagle. Dot was predeceased in death by sisters Mabel Seagle Bumgardner, Lucille Seagle Black, and Janice Seagle Dulin; brother, Freddie Lee Seagle; niece Dr. Phyllis Allran Barber; and nephew-in-law Rev. Robert Shelby III. She is survived by her sister Gertrude Seagle Allran and brother-in-law Walter Dulin, both of Charlotte. Also surviving are nieces Virginia Black Shelby of Hudson, Anita Allran Finch of Durham, Linda Dulin Cagley and husband Mark of Charlotte, and nephew Fred Dulin and wife Linda of Jonesborough, TN. Surviving also are great nieces Virginia Shelby Hodges and husband Mack of Mt. Airy; Catherine Cagley of New York, NY; Lauren Cagley of Fairfax, VA; Kalli Dulin of Jonesborough, TN; and great-nephew Robert Shelby IV and wife Lynette of Granite Falls. Other survivors are great-great niece MacKenzie Hodges and great-great nephew, Taylor Hodges both of Mt. Airy. Her survivors also include two loving God-children, Shanna and Anthony Lieu; step children Bill Johnson and Robin Johnson; and step grandchildren, Adam Johnson and Amber Philbeck.
Dot graduated from Lincolnton High School as Salutatorian, a member of the National Honor Society, and the DAR History Medalist for making the highest grades in history -her love of history continued throughout her life. While in school, she was a member of the Debate Team and a Cheerleader. She was employed by the State of North Carolina and Lincoln County as Administrative Secretary in the NC Cooperative Extension Service for 60 consecutive years, setting a state record. In 2002, over 200 co-workers, friends, family, and government officials gathered to honor her when she was awarded the highest honor given by the governor, “The Order of the Long Leaf Pine,” for her many years of service to the people of North Carolina.
Throughout her life, she was active in community and church affairs. At Emmanuel Lutheran where she was a lifelong member, she served in many roles including Handbell Choir Member, Sunday School Teacher, Church Council Member, and Youth Advisor. She shared her love of music as a Choir Member lending her beautiful alto voice in joyous harmony. She volunteered with the American Cancer Society for over 50 years and served for many years as Secretary of the Lincoln County Apple Festival and member of the Lincoln Choral Guild. Dot will be remembered for her friendly Christian spirit, her keen sense of humor, and her abundant love.
A celebration of Dot’s life will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 216 South Aspen Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092, with internment immediately following at Hollybrook Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the church in the North Addition. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

Harry Wallace Kelly Jr II, born March 22, 1929 passed away peacefully at his home in Denver at age 84 on January 11, 2014.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joyce Moffat Kelly; son, Harry Wallace Kelly Jr. III; daughter, Brenda Kelly-Kerby and her husband Matt; four grandchildren, Pastor Harry Wallace Kelly Jr IV and wife Wendy, Ashley Groeper and husband Jason, Breanna Kelly, and Jennifer Baker and husband Jaison; and five great-grandchildren, Mackynzie Kelly, Kiley Kelly, Tristan Baker, Jaisenna Baker and Lily-Ann Nicole Groeper.
A Memorial Service will be held in honor of Harry’s life at 1 p.m. Saturday January 18, 2014 at Community Pentecostal Center, 320 Ralf Handsel Blvd., Stanley, North Carolina 28164.
