A man was rushed to an area hospital late Wednesday morning after his van crashed into a parked vehicle along N.C. 16 in Denver, troopers said.
Officers have yet to identify the victim, who was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Main in Charlotte with non-life-threatening injuries, officers said.
According to Trooper K. L. Hall with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the man’s van, which had “David McMichael Construction” written on its side, had been traveling northbound on the busy highway when it struck a Dodge pickup truck parked on the side of the road.
The incident took place around 11:30 a.m. in a location between St. James Church Road and Optimist Club Road.
The impact crushed the back of the truck and damaged the front of the van.
Troopers remain unsure what caused the collision.
Both northbound lanes on N.C. 16 were closed immediately following the wreck.
Hall said his office will continue to investigate the crash and determine who owned the truck.
Denver and East Lincoln Fire Departments also responded to the scene in addition to crews with Lincoln County Emergency Medical Services.
