Dorothy Rhyne Mosteller Stamey, age 82, of 2742 Long Shoals Road in Lincolnton, died on Monday, January 6, 2014.
Her funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. on January 9, 2014 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Ingle officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service.
Mrs. Stamey was born March 18, 1931 in Lincoln County to the late James and Willie Rhyne Mosteller. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Stamey of the home; a brother, A.J. Mosteller of Lincolnton; and a sister, Agnes Rudisill of Bessemer City.

James Paul Moir
Mr. James Paul Moir, age 71, of 2359 Heavner Road in Lincolnton, died on Monday, January 6, 2014.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Moir was born August 29, 1942 in Pittsburgh, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Mr. Moir retired from the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Lois LaJoie Moir of the home; five sons, Jeffrey Richards of Mongolia, Clint Richards and wife Jeanne of Yorktown, Va., Kevin Green and Billy Green, both of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Jason Moir of Lincolnton; and one grandson, David James Moir.

Bette Jane Umphress Palmer Scales
Bette Jane Umphress Palmer Scales, age 59, of Lincolnton passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 at her residence. She was born July 20, 1954 in Bethesda, Md. to the late Howard Umphress and Marion Martin Umphress.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde Palmer and her second husband, Charlie Scales.
She is survived by one son, Clyde Wesley Palmer II and his wife Jennifer of San Diego, Calif., one daughter, Spring Heather Palmer of Vale; five grandchildren, Justice Whitesides, Quinton Whitesides, Grayam Hull, Will Palmer, and Wyatt Palmer; three brothers, Hank Umphress, of Lincolnton, David Umphress of Lincolnton, and Dick Umphress of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Barbara Gelb of Pa., Brenda Dolfi of Pa., and Beverly Osborne of Atlanta, Ga.
Memorial services will be held Friday, January 10, 2014 at 2 p.m. at RiverView Baptist Church. Rev. Danny Martin will officiate.

Evelyn Dellinger Aderholt
CROUSE — Evelyn Dellinger Aderholt, 76, of Lander’s Chapel Church Rd., died January 5, 2014 at Lincoln Nursing Center. She was born on August 15, 1937 in Catawba Co., a daughter of the late Roland and Mary McAlister Dellinger.
Mrs. Aderholt attended Crouse United Methodist Church, graduate of Tryon High School and retired with 35 years’ service at Mohican Mills. She was the sweetest lady you would ever meet and loved to cook, can and bake for everyone.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Aderholt in 2008, a brother Tommy Dellinger and a sister Hilda Elmore.
Survivors include her son Todd Aderholt of Crouse, and three sisters Ann Carpenter, of Bakersville, Audrey Metcalf of Charlotte, and Irma Metcalf of Macon, Ga.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Carpenter’s Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Jerry Lail officiating with burial to in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m.

Octia Izettia Brittain Miller, 83, of 7402 W. Hwy. 27 in Vale, passed away September 2, 2013 at home.
Born July 30, 1930 in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late Shupin Alexander Brittain and Delia Berry Brittain. She was a homemaker and a member of Hull’s Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Hubert Brittain, Henry Brittain, J. G. Brittain, and Sanford Brittain, and sisters, Viola Bryant and Junie Spann.
Survivors include her husband, W. P. Miller Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Angie Miller of Hickory; daughters and sons-in-law, Alice and Philip Stegall of Greenville, S.C., and Ruthie and David Conner of Vale; brothers, Vance Brittain of Icard, Norris Brittain of Connelly Springs, and Wilburn Brittain of Hickory; and grandchildren, Russell Conner and wife, Erin, Anna Stegall, MaLeigha Miller, BreAnna Miller, and Andrew Miller.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2:45 p.m., Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Hull’s Grove Baptist Church in Vale.
The memorial service will be 3 p.m., Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Hull’s Grove Baptist Church in Vale with Rev. Marcus Redding officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
