Iron Station Seniors

The Iron Station seniors group will meet 12 p.m. at Ironton Presbyterian Church.


Divorce Care

Relay for Life 

East Lincoln Relay for Life will meet 7:30 p.m. at Safari Miles restaurant, N.C. 16 in Denver, to kickoff 2014. Additional team captain meetings will be Feb. 12, March 12 and April 16. For more information, email elrelayforlife@gmail.com.



Quilt guild 

Piecemakers Quilt Guild will meet 10 a.m. to 3 p.m at the Senior Center, 511 S. Aspen St. in Lincolnton (on Gaston College-Lincoln campus) for a beginners class. For more information, call Linda at (704) 483-2778.


Blood drive

Community Blood Center of the Carolinas will host a blood drive 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gaston College-Lincoln Campus, 511 S. Aspen St. in Lincolnton, and 12-4 p.m. at CMC-Lincoln, 433 McAlister RD. in Lincolnton. Individuals who donate at the Gaston College drive will receive a free T-shirt. American Legion

American Legion Post #30 will meet 7 p.m. at Legion headquarters, 1120 N. Aspen St. in Lincolnton.


RACES/ARES meeting

Singles group

Sons of Confederate

Diabetes class

The Gaston County Senior Center in Dallas will host “Living Healthy with Diabetes,” a six-week class, which will run 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. each Friday today through Feb. 14. For more information, call (704) 922-2110 or visit gastongov.com.



Carroll Cooke & Determined will perform a concert 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Friendly’s Restaurant, 119 N. Main St. in Stanley.



Chicken pie/dumpling dinner 

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 4051 King Wilkinson Rd. in Lincolnton, will host a chicken pie, chicken dumpling and stew beef supper starting at 11 a.m. To order on or before Jan. 10 (Fri.), call Jesse or Brad Summey at (704) 732-7529. Church concert

Widowed Group  

The Widowed Group of the Greater Gaston Area will host a dance 7-10 p.m. at the Gaston County Senior Center, 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy. in Dallas. Blood drive

College orientation

Gaston College will hold a four-day Basic Skills New Student Orientation class starting 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. today in room 118 of the Lincoln Campus, 511 S. Aspen St. in Lincolnton. The Coalition Of Churches will meet 7 p.m. at Oaklawn School in Lincolnton. The discussion for the meeting will be the completion of MLK events and black history Information. The public is invited to attend.
