LINCOLN TIMES-NEWS

The Lincolnton Area Soccer Association under-12 boys team won the 2013 Fall Classic Soccer Tournament in Iredell County.
The tournament hosted more than 100 teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. The club won all three of its preliminary matches before clinching the under-12 title against a team from West Virginia.
The LASA also had boys and girls under-14 teams compete. It was founded last year as a non-profit organization which works closely with the City of Lincolnton Recreation Department. Its mission is “to provide a quality soccer program to the children of Lincoln County with an eventual goal of improving existing soccer facilities in and around the area,” the organization said in a press release.
The LASA currently has three teams, and this spring it will add an under-12 girls team, and under-16 boys team and an under-19 co-ed team. It is made up of players and coaches from all over the county.
