Correction
The Lincoln County Cardinals won their first game of the 2013 N.C. American Legion State Tournament on July 26 with a 5-3 victory over Randolph County Post 45 –– Post 455’s first state tournament win in history. A story published on Page 4 on Wednesday, Jan. 1, incorrectly stated the team did not win a game.

Industrial league hoops: The City of Lincolnton Parks and Recreation Department is currently seeking companies interested in participating in an industrial basketball league.  Companies interested in playing should contact the recreation office by today.

Baseball camp
East Lincoln baseball coach Chris Matile is directing an indoor baseball skills camp beginning Sunday, and the camp will run every Sunday for six weeks. The camp is for ages 6-10 and 11-15, with a session solely dedicated to hitting and one to pitching, catching and infielders. Cost for one session $120, or $190 for both. Session 1 (hitting) for ages 6-10 will be 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and Session 2 (pitching, catching, infielders) from 1:15-2:45. The same sessions for ages 11-15 will be from 3-4:30 and 4:45-6:15. Softball camp
