Deputies said a man used a handgun to threaten the manager at an eastern Lincoln County fast food eatery Sunday morning before stealing money from the store safe and fleeing the property.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is still on the hunt for the armed robber, whom deputies described, based on video surveillance, as a 5-foot-10 black male with a slender build and dressed in all black clothing.

He sped away from the property in a red Honda after robbing the Cookout restaurant on N.C. 73 in Stanley around 7 a.m., an agency press release said.

The store manager told officers the suspect shot out the glass in the front door then forced him to open the store safe and hand over all its contents.

Anyone with information about the incident or possible suspect is asked the call the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at (704) 732-9050, the Lincoln County Communications Center at (704) 735-8202 or Crime Stoppers at (704) 736-8909.

Tips may remain anonymous, and any tip leading to an arrest may receive a reward of up to $1,000.
