Gladys Montjoy Garrett
Mrs. Gladys Montjoy Garrett, 90, formerly of Gastonia died Thursday, December 18, 2013 at Carillon Assisted Living in Lincolnton. She was born January 3, 1923 in Simpsonville, S.C., a daughter of the late Johnny Victor and Sally Etta Stroud Montjoy.
Mrs. Garrett was an optometric assistant with Dr. Gary Levinson for many years and a homemaker. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Gastonia where she enjoyed the Joy Club and was a former Sunday school teacher. She was active for many years buying and selling estate jewelry at the Metrolina Flea Market and enjoyed her bridge club. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors of Mrs. Garret include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bob Goode of Lincolnton; daughter-in-law, Gail Garrett of Gastonia; grandchildren, Pamela Garrett, Todd Garrett, both of Gastonia; Jennifer Corregan (Matt) of Sanford; Dinah Barkley; Amy Crisson (Brian), all of Lincolnton; step-grandchildren, Vera Morrison of Cherryville; Scott Nations, Steve Nations, all of Gastonia; eight great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, James Preston Garrett Sr., her son, James Preston Garrett Jr., by a grandson, Jeffrey Garrett.
Mrs. Garrett was loved by all her caregivers at Carillon Assisted Living in Lincolnton and her family greatly appreciates their compassion and care given to her.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m., at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. in Founders Chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Ray Ammons officiating. Interment will follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park.

Forrest Neal Harmon
Forrest Neal Harmon, age 75, of 919 Tait Street in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, December 18, 2013.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, December 21, 2013, in Hollybrook Cemetery with Rev. Veronica E. Cannon officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. this evening at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Harmon was born February 27, 1938, in Altavista, Va. to the late Russell L. and Irene Tate Harmon. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Russell D. Harmon. He worked as a revenue officer for the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline L. Harmon; daughters, Lesley Klocke of Cherryville and Luann Gum of Orlando, Fla.; sister, Arby Harmon Brannon of Mooresville; brother, Tommy A. Harmon of Raleigh; and two grandchildren, Steven Paul Klocke II and Rhea EmmaLee Klocke of Lincolnton.

Taitlyn Grace Smith, infant, of 5495 East Maiden Road in Maiden, died on Saturday, December 14, 2013.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at East Lincoln Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her father, Taylor Smith of the home; her mother, Hannah Faith Ellis of the home; paternal grandparents, Tommy and Jenny Smith, Sajohnna Triano, and Kimberly Smith; maternal grandparents, Derrick and Maria Duffy of Maiden and Robert Ellis of Lincolnton; paternal great-grandparents, Dennis Smith, Sally Dellinger, and Reid and Shirley Smith; maternal great-grandparents, Hoppie and Debbie Maners of Lincolnton; and aunts, Addison and Chyanne Ellis.

Doyle Alfred ‘Al’ Tillis Jr.
Doyle Alfred “Al” Tillis Jr., 56, of Lincolnton passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at a second residence in Bolivia, N.C. Al was born in Jacksonville, Fla. to Doyle A. Tillis Sr. who is surviving and Fannetta Revell Tillis who precedes him in death. Al was an artist and an outstanding teacher of pottery.
He is preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Louise Easterling.
In addition to his father, Doyle Tillis Sr. and special friend, Betty Boyd, Al is survived by his wife of 33 years, Julie Tillis; daughter, Eva Tillis Berisford and husband, Stephen; sisters, Marsha Robertson and husband, Rick, Karon Tillis and partner, Jenny Turner, Beverly Caldwell and husband, Dennis; grandchild, Ryder Berisford; father-in-law, Ralph Easterling; sisters-in-law, Nancy Easterling and husband, Chuck Anderson and Nikki Easterling; brother-in-law, Rusty Easterling and wife, Suzanne; nieces and nephews, Shannon, Neal, Caroline, Troy, Noah, Emme, Kesson and Amon; and great nieces and nephews, Hunter, Dylan, Carlee, Caitlynn, Emmalee and Elias.
Visitation for family and friends will be held this evening from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Jewel W. Yarbrough, age 88, of Lincolnton passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Brian Center of Lincolnton. She was born November 15, 1925 to the late Max Willis and Daisy Wright Willis.
She was a member of Riverview Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband Luther O. Yarbrough Jr. of Lincolnton; two sons, Herbert Willis Yarbrough of Matthews and Joe Billy Yarbrough and his wife Beth of Lincolnton; four grandchildren, Troy Williams, Ashley Oliphant, Melissa James, and Jonathan Yarbrough, and one great grandson, Miller Oliphant.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Riverview Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service. The interment will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Ricky Brown will officiate.

Kristi Michelle Hall Fulbright, 35, of Maiden died December 16, 2013.
The funeral service was held on December 19, 2013 at 4 p.m. at Friendship United Methodist Church, Newton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family received friends on December 19, 2013 from 2:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service and also following the burial.
