FRIDAY
Festival of Trees

Senior dance    
The Gaston County Senior Center, 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy. in Dallas, will host a senior dance 7-10 p.m. for ages 55 and up. Cost is $4. For more information, call (704) 922-2170.

Church choir concert
The Adult Choir at Boger City Baptist Church, 2201 E. Main St. in Lincolnton, will perform the “Joy of Every Longing Heart” at 7 p.m.

Nutcracker
Students from four area dance studios will unite to perform “The Nutcracker:  Beyond the Dream” 7 p.m. at the Citizens Center in Lincolnton. Cost is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students. Community chorus
The East Lincoln Community Chorus will perform “Handel’s Messiah…Plus” 7:30 p.m. at Denver UMC, 3910 N.C. 16 North in Denver.

Coalition award nominations
Lincoln County Coaliton of Churches is looking for nominations from the public regarding the Spirit of King Award for the group’s MLK Day in January. Anyone can nominate a pastor, person or group who embodies the spirit of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. For more information on the event, nominations or to secure an application, call Rev.  SATURDAY
Church breakfast
Marvin UMC, 2731 Startown Rd. in Lincolnton, will host a breakfast buffet 7-10 a.m. Donations will be collected for the church parsonage fund. The Methodist women’s group will also host a bake sale for missions projects.

Frosty 5K run   
The Lincoln County Family YMCA will host its 7th Annual Frosty 5K at the Gaston College-Lincoln Campus. Proceeds will benefit the Y’s Community Support Campaign and help fund the Y Readers summer literacy program. To register, visit ymcacharlotte.org/Lincoln or stop by the facility on Gaston Street in Lincolnton. The first 300 registrants will receive a free T-shirt. Breakfast with Santa
Asbury UMC, 3097 Asbury Ch. Rd. in Lincolnton, will host Breakfast with Santa 8-10 a.m. for breakfast, crafts and pictures with Santa. Attendants are asked to bring a toy to donate to area children in need.

Cancelled Christmas bazaar
Boger Wesleyan Church has cancelled its 2nd Annual Christmas Bazaar and hot dog sale.

Children’s shopping event
Amy’s Closet will host a Children’s Shopping Day 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for children’s looking to buy presents for their parents. The event will be at 751-E. N.C. 16 in Denver. For more information, call (704) 483-5515.

Christmas concert

The 40th Anniversary event will start 2 p.m. at Zur Leonard Rd. in Vale. Lineup is at 1 p.m. This year’s mayor is Zackie Warlick.

Widowed Group
The Widowed Group of the Greater Gaston Area will host a dance 7-10 p.m. at the Senior Center, 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy. in Dallas, with Mike Grigg and the 16th Avenue Band. The group will perform music from the 1950s & ‘60s. Doors open at 6 p.m. A meal will be served.

Post-Polio Support
The Cleveland County Post-Polio Support Group, which also includes citizens of Lincoln and surrounding counties, will meet 6 p.m. in the conference room at the Life Enrichment Center of Shelby. Band concert
