Mary Calaway Campbell
Mary Calaway Campbell loving wife of Buford T. Campbell, surrounded by her children, left her earthly home to enter her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the age of 77.
Mary was a native of Lincolnton. After marrying Buford, July 28, 1954 she has resided in Maiden. She was a retired cosmetologist and owned salons and was an instructor at Cosmetology Schools in Hickory and North Wilkesboro. In her younger years Mary was well known for fashion. Her hair would coordinate with her clothes. Although being a successful business woman was a great accomplishment, her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. She loved spending time with Madison, Emily, Grace and Dakota. If you look at them and see a sparkle in their eyes you will see “Mammaw Mary”. Up until recently, Mary was involved in Children’s Church and enjoyed youth activities. She loved the Lord, and what a faithful servant she was.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Margaret Stroup Calaway; beloved son, Buford Terrell Campbell Jr. (Terry); granddaughter, Tina Dawn Campbell and brother, William Calaway.
Left to cherish her memory is loving husband of 59 years, Buford T. Campbell of Maiden; son, Jerry and wife Beverly Campbell of Maiden; granddaughters, Bonnie Campbell White and husband Eddie of Maiden, Chrissie Campbell Owenby and husband Jason of Lewisville, Brooke Campbell of Cherryville; the little girls that made her enjoy life to its fullest, her great-granddaughters, Madison Leigh White, Emily Elizabeth White, Grace Abigail White and Mary Dakota Owenby; brothers, Buster Calaway and wife Emma Jean of Lincolnton, Charlie Calaway and wife Shelby of Bessemer City, Floyd Calaway and wife Nancy of Lincolnton; many nieces, nephews and special neighbors.
A Service of Remembrance will be held Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden. The Rev. Michael Staton and Rev. Marion Powell will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church. Serving as pallbearers are Jerry Campbell, Shane Calaway, Matt Starns, Larry Burgin, Johnnie Burgin, Spencer Calaway, Trey Calaway and Steve Calaway.

Macie Carter Pruitt
Macie Carter Pruitt, 70, of Hickory, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Catawba Regional Hospice.
Born April 6, 1943 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Hazel Carter and Maude Pitts Lackey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Maurice Carter; and a great-grandchild, Riley Barden.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Harlan Pruitt of the home; a daughter, Donna Barden of Hickory; five sons, Farrell Shuford of Vale, Harlan Pruitt of Hickory, William “Bill” Pruitt of Mtn. View, Mickey Ray Pruitt of Lincolnton, Ralph Calvin Pruitt of Hickory; two sisters; 17 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2013 in the chapel at Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory. Burial will follow at Brookford City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Zellie ‘Diane’ Williams
STANLEY — Zellie “Diane” Williams, 67, passed away December 1, 2013. She was born March 11, 1946 in Mecklenburg County to the late Ernest Boyd Williams and Zellie Williams. Diane was a member of Thrift United Methodist Church in Paw Creek; she served as president for nine years with the Ladies Auxiliary Paw Creek American Legion and retired from Harris Teeter.
Diane is survived by a sister, Gladys Cox and husband Roy; three brothers, Tommy Williams and wife Joyce, Dennis Williams and wife Priscilla, Larry Williams and wife Mary; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five siblings, Edna Martin, Effie Norton, Doris Brooks, Coyte Williams and Ronnie Williams.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Carothers Funeral Home in Stanley. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Paw Creek American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Veterans Fund.

Ronald Santi Biagetti, 76, of Maiden died December 2, 2013.
A funeral service will be held December 5, 2013 at 5 p.m. at Burke Mortuary, Maiden. Burial will be December 6, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. The family will receive friends December 5, 2013 from 4 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. at Burke Mortuary, Maiden prior to the service.
