Frances Putman Gamble
COLUMBIA, S.C. — A memorial service for Frances Putman Gamble, 78, will be held today at 3 p.m., at Dunbar Home, Devine Street Chapel, with visitation to follow immediately after the service at the funeral home
Frances died November 28, 2013 at Agape Hospice House. Born in Kings Mountain, she was the wife of the late Jimmy Neal Gamble and daughter of the late William Boyd Putman and Helen Hauss Putman. She was a graduate of Gardner Webb University and a book keeper for the Irmo Chapin Parks and Recreation Commission. Frances was a member of Shandon Baptist Church and enjoyed going to BSF bible study. Frances loved spending time with friends and family and especially loved traveling to the beach and to visit her sister, Sarah, in Las Vegas. She enjoyed doll collecting, cooking and sewing. She was a loving mother, wife and grandmother who will be terribly missed.
Surviving are her sons, Jimmy “Neal” Gamble Jr. and his fiancée, Cheri Megan, of Wake Forest, Mark David Gamble and his wife, Judy, of Charlotte; daughter, Kelly G. Watkins and husband, David, of Columbia, S.C.; sister, Sarah Logan and her husband Charles, of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Alison Gamble, Christine Gamble, David Gamble, John Gamble, and Caroline Watkins.

Donald James Greene
Mr. Donald Greene, age 84, of Lincolnton, passed away Friday, November 29, 2013, at Robin Johnson Hospice House. He was born in Gaston County to the late Noah Greene and Bertha Fletcher Greene. He was also preceded in death by sisters Hilda, Genell and Barbara Ann and brothers Austin, Kenneth, Jerry, Harry and J.R.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Lou Mauney Greene; one son, Jeffery; and granddaughters, Coley and Millie of Weddington; special nieces and their husbands, Judy and John Cannon, Shelia and Tony Sherrill, all of Gastonia, and Tiny and Kenneth Crisp of Great Falls, S.C., also his dog Little Susie.
He was a machinist and retired from A.B. Carter, Inc., of Gastonia. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he enjoyed being a part of the Good Friends Class, the Topagers group, and singing in the Senior Adult Choir.
A memorial service is being held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Lincolnton. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 12:45p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Burial will be private.

Larry Guy Hooper
Larry Guy Hooper was called from his earthly home to his eternal home with Jesus early on Thursday morning, November 28, 2013. He was born in Concord on April 15, 1936.
A patriot, Larry served his country with the 82nd Airborne from 1953 to 1956. After retiring from Freightliner of Cleveland he began a serious hobby in gardening. He was affectionately called the “Tomato Man” and as word spread neighbors came regularly to see if there were any available.
In addition to gardening, Larry enjoyed a wide range of hobbies including golfing, watching NASCAR races, listening to blue grass music and his antique car. He recently entered his 1931 Ford A Model Coupe in a local car show and won “Best in Show,” but most of all, Larry cherished his family, friends and church. He was a member of Webbs Chapel UMC in Denver where he served as a Trustee.
Larry was fun loving with a great sense of humor and a smile that would warm anyone’s heart. He was the proud grandpaw to his grandson, Blake and loved to listen to him play the violin.
He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife of 56 years, Billie June Sherrill Hooper; his daughter, Autumn, the apple of his eye, and her husband, Kane Haynes and grandson, Blake Haynes. He is also survived by his sisters, Louise Tate and Mildred Davis, both of Kannapolis and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lock and Maggie Hooper, siblings, Hazel Brotherton, Mary Hall and Jepty Hooper.
Visitation will be conducted 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, November 30 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home. His funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Webbs Chapel United Methodist Church.

Willena Mae Gilbert Rhyne
VALE — Willena Mae Gilbert Rhyne, of Vale, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013, at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
Willena was a very loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. She received great joy from all things associated with and involving her family.
She was born on July 3, 1930 to the late Andrew Gilbert and Della Ritchie. In addition to her parents, brothers, and sister, Willena was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis P. Rhyne. She was employed for many years at Gilbert’s Shoes of Lincolnton, which later became Warlick’s Shoes. Mrs. Rhyne retired from public service in 2000.
Willena was an active life-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vale. She received lots of enjoyment over the years from participating in all her church activities, as well as participating in the many activities associated with the senior citizen groups of Lincoln County and especially with the Happy Timers group. The Rhyne family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the many special church and senior group friends for all your support and prayers.
Willena is survived by one son, Eddie and wife Debby on Denver; two daughters, Debbie Crouse and Cathy Williams, both of Vale; grandchildren, Jon Rhyne and wife Benita of Morganton, Danny Brown and wife Tara of Denver, Cory Williams and wife Krystal of San Antonio, Tex., Merideth Mintz and husband Derek of Huntersville, NC, and Casey Williams and friend Drew of Charlotte, NC; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Bruns, Jacob Brown, Sydney, Tobey and Trey Mintz, and Eli Williams.
The family wishes to convey their deepest and most sincere thanks and appreciation to the professional and extremely dedicated caregivers of Hospice & Palliative Care of Lincoln County and at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, who unfaithfully supported Willena and her family.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vale with Pastor John Locke officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
