The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners and Planning Board are holding another public hearing tonight regarding Strata Solar Farms request of a conditional use permit to construct a solar power generator facility in the eastern end of the county. The Times-News previously reported that more than 100 people attended the board’s meeting last month regarding this proposal. Jim Scarborough, a representative for the residents of SailView, had asked for the decision to be moved to December due to a hearing date with the Board of Adjustments.
American Tower Corporations’ permit request to erect a 195 foot wireless telecommunications tower in the Ironton Township is also on the agenda. The commissioners opted to postpone their final decision regarding the permit last month after learning one of the company’s representatives could not attend due to a family emergency.
Applicant Jean Turbyfill will also be requesting a parallel condition use rezoning of 2.6 acres to permit storage, picking, packing and shipping center as well as a self-storage facility to be constructed. The property is located on the west side of N.C. 16 Business, 2,000 feet north of N.C. 73 in Catawba Springs.
The hearing will be held in the auditorium of the Citizens Center in Lincolnton tonight at 6:30p.m.
