Donald Lee Felts

IRON STATION – Donald Lee Felts, 68, died suddenly, on Monday afternoon, November 26, 2013 at his home.

He was born October 20, 1945 in Surry County to John Claude and Frances Mozelle Wagoner Felts.  He was retired from Duke Energy with 25 years of service, and also was employed part time by Air Supply.  Donald loved fishing, horses and playing computer games. He served his country proudly in the US Navy.

A 3 p.m. funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. R.J. McBride officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Regina Faye Lindsey Felts; brother, John Garrett (Gary) Felts; sister, Frances Louise Felts Johnson; grandparents, James Harrison and Myrtle Deette Pruitt Felts and Noah Webster and Eva Pearlie Sturdivant Wagoner.

He is survived by two sisters, Christine McBride and husband Rev. R.J. McBride and Sandra and Johnny, all of Belews Creek; one brother, Jimmy Felts and wife Elizabeth of Walkertown; sister-in-law, Charlene Felts of King; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Victory Baptist Church in Belews Creek.

John Alexander Hill III

John Alexander Hill III, age 57, of Lincolnton passed away November 15, 2013 peacefully at his home in his sleep. He was born June 22, 1956 in Newark, NJ to John “Jack” Alexander Hill Jr. and Marion McKeon Taylor Hill of Eden.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Mary Catherine Towers Hill of the home; two daughters, Nicole Alexandria Hill and Sara Elizabeth Hill of Lincolnton; two sisters, Marian Kathryn Poirier of Providence, RI and Kathy Elizabeth Atkins of Arlington, Tex. and a dear angel, Olivia Duran.

Services will be held Sunday, December 1, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Boger City United Methodist Church, 2320 East Main Street, Lincolnton, NC. The family will receive friends following the service at 2 p.m. Pastor Eric Reece will officiate.

Johnny W. Laney Sr.

IRON STATION — Johnny Wesley Laney Sr., age 82,  of Iron Station passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville. Born in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Robert Bunyan Laney and Eunice Dovie Laney. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Johnny retired from Duke Power as a Superintendent of the transmission lines. He was a member of Hills Chapel United Methodist Church in Lowesville. Johnny served on the ELBA Board as well as the CFCC Board and the planning committee of Lincoln County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, R.B. Laney and Calvin Laney.

He is survived by wife of 57 years, Rachel Jenkins Laney of the home; three daughters, Sherry McRee and husband Mike of Maiden, Cecilia McGalliard and husband Brad of Roebuck, S.C., Evelyn Mercer of Wilmington; son, Johnny Laney Jr. and wife Lou of Maiden; brother, Carroll Laney of Sherrills Ford; sister, Evelyn Caldwell of Maiden; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 29, 2013 at Hills Chapel United Methodist Church in Lowesville with Rev. Dr. Val Rosenquist, Pastor officiating.

Warren Columbus Robinson

Warren Columbus Robinson, age 88, of the Brian Center, and formerly of Leewood Acres in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, November 26, 2013.

His funeral service will be noon on Saturday, November 30, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Wyant officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Robinson was born on March 15, 1925 in Rockingham County to the late Raymond Lee and Virginia Walker Robinson. He served in the United States Army in the 165th Combat Engineering Battalion during World War II and each year after discharge looked forward to his Army reunion.  Later, he was self-employed for 44 years as an electrician and spent time working with Troop 76 of the Boy Scouts at First United Methodist Church. He was also active in the Men’s Bible Class as a member and teacher.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Cashion Robinson of the home; one son, David Robinson, wife Debbie; one granddaughter, Kerri Robinson of Charlotte; one brother, Herbert J. Robinson of Ooltewah, Tenn.; and one sister, Martha Lackey of Reidsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Activity Fund at Brian Center of Lincolnton, 515 S. Generals Blvd., Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Rachel Mae Kaylor Setzer

Rachel Mae Kaylor Setzer, 72, of Claremont died November 28, 2013.

The funeral service will be held on November 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Providence Road Baptist Church, Maiden. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on November 30, 2013 from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church, Maiden prior to the service.
