Mary Ruth Toney Royster, 92, 7197 Hull Rd, Cherryville passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2013, at her home.
She was born on February 18, 1921 in Cleveland County to the late Paul Ernest Toney and Lula Grace Smith Toney. She was retired from Sweettree Mills as a stylist and was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Esper “C.E.” Royster.
Mrs. Royster is survived by her son, Frank Royster of Cherryville; two daughters, Abbie Jane Royster of Cherryville and Linda R. LeFever of Roanoke, VA; two grandchildren, Rob LeFever and wife Kari of Furlong, PA and Sarah Royster Campbell and husband Josh of Manitowoc, WI; four great grandchildren, Andy and Tommy LeFever and Emmaline and Addison Campbell.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Funeral will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Rev. Roy T. Byers officiating. Entombment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum

John C. Nicol
IRON STATION — Mr. John C. Nicol, age 80, of Iron Station, died Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at CMC-Lincoln.
Born in Atlanta, Ga. September 15, 1933, he was the son of the late Cargill Nicol and Nora Brinckman Nicol. John was employed in the Mortgage Banking Industry most of his working life and retired from Barclays American Mortgage in 1994 where he served as Director and Vice-President of Loan Administration for many years. He received the John Laton Award in 1988 in recognition of contributions to Mortgage Servicing at the local, state, and national levels. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. John was a charter member and past Master of Keystone Lodge #726. He received the Grand Masters Award in 1971 and the Laudamus Award in 1975. He received his 50 years as a Certified Lecturer becoming the 9th Mason in N.C. to receive that distinction. John loved golf and was a long time member of Westport Golf course and played regularly until being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathrine Goode.
He loved his family and is survived by wife of 53 years, Ruby B. Nicol of the home; daughter, Karen Nicol of Stanley; son, Steve Nicol of Claremont; and a number of nieces and nephews
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Iron Station with Rev. Mike Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service.

Emma Sue Martin Wise, age 77, of East Highway 27, Lincolnton died Friday, November 22, 2013.
Her funeral will be 2 p.m. today in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Wise officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wise was born on December 11, 1935 in Lincoln County and was the daughter of the late Shelly and Dicie Bivens Martin. She was retired from the textile industry.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby of the home; one son, Bobby Dean Wise Jr. and wife, Lori of Lincolnton; two brothers, David Martin of Huntersville and Gary Martin of Lincolnton; one sister, Mary Ellis Cook of Tex.; one granddaughter, Morgan Wise.
