Violet Geraldine Fisher Cash

Violet Geraldine Fisher Cash, age 82, of 4915 Highway 150 in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, November 17, 2013.

Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Bortz and Rev. Ken Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Cash was born June 10, 1931 in Lincoln County to the late Joel Alexander and Cora Lee Fisher.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Everette Cash.  She worked as an inspector for Hugger Clothing.

She is survived by a son, John E. Cash Jr. of Lincolnton; daughter, Sharon Bohannon of Lincolnton; brother, Donald Fisher and wife Kat of Iron Station; sister, Julia Whitener of Kansas; five grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Ralph Jones

Kenneth Ralph Jones, 81, of Lake Norman, passed away Friday, November 18, 2013, after a lengthy illness of more than two years.

Born March 31, 1932 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Glenn Murphy Jones and the late Ethel Southers Jones.

Ken was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in the Korean War. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart, good conduct medal, and silver service star. He was co-owner of Twin City Cleaners of Newton for 18 years. Ken attended CVCC from 1979-1982 and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting.  He was a devoted teacher for handicapped children in Lincoln County schools and taught them to make bird houses and build chairs. Ken’s hobbies were camping, traveling, fishing, and watching old western movies and all sports.

Ken was a member at Westport Baptist Church in Denver, where he attended Sunday school and preaching. The family would like to give special thanks to Don and Shirley Greene, Sunday school class members, and special friends at Westport Baptist Church for all your support and prayers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy J. McCaslin and brothers, Harvey Jones and Terry Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Alene Houser Jones; one son, Marcus Gwynn Jones of the home; sister, Yvonne Jones Simmerson, of Tex.; brothers, J.E. Jones of Tex., Robert Jones and wife, Maxine of Newton, and their son, Glenn Allen their daughter, Chasity Smith and husband, Jackie and their son, Brantley, brother, Charlie Jones and wife, Janette of Newton and their family, Teresa Medlin and husband, Jeff and their son, Randy, Diane Bandy and husband, Jimmy and their son, Andrew Jones; sister-in-law, Peggy Day of Ranlo and her family, Kandy and Brittany; friends and neighbors, Kermit Bolick and family, B.C. and Pam Lineberger and their son, Barney, Greg Reed, Shelby L. Munn, Rita Rudd, Ronnie, Joy, Andy, Alice Lineberger, Tim and Meachel Starnes, and Faye and Jim Phillips.

A graveside service with military rites by DAV Chapter #34 will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at 3 p.m., at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton. The family will receive friends Friday, November 22, 2013 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton.

Emma ‘Lib’ Elizabeth Goodson Schrum

Emma “Lib” Elizabeth Goodson Schrum, age 79, of Lincolnton passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.  Born February 1, 1934 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Luie Edward Goodson and Carey Hager Goodson.  Lib worked at Ethan Allen Furniture in Maiden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Annette Schrum; two brothers, Larry and Calvin Goodson.

She is survived by husband of 63 years, W.T. Schrum of the home; two sons, Jimmy Dale Schrum and wife Betty Sue of Iron Station, Rick Schrum of the home; two granddaughters, Haley Schrum, Angela Isenhour; two great-grandchildren,  Lona and Levi Isenhour; two sisters, Evelyn Fletcher of Stanley, Wilma Smith of Lincolnton; a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Lincolnton with Rev. Ernie Richards and Rev. Andrew Goodson officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Lincolnton. The family will receive friends on this evening from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Burke Mortuary in Maiden.

Margaret Louise Wilson Seagle, 81, of Cherryville died November 17, 2013.

Funeral services will be held this evening at 8 p.m. at Carpenter’s Funeral & Cremation Services. The family will receive friends this evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.

John Alexander Hill III, 57, of Lincolnton died November 15, 2013.

Services are to be held at a later date.

Sue Carolyn Lutz Fisher, 78, of Newton died November 17, 2013

The family will receive friends today from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Burke Mortuary, Newton prior to the service. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia at a later date.

Virginia Louise Hines Spainhour, 80, of Cherryville died November 19, 2013.

Mattie Jane Williams Roberts, 90, of Greensboro and formerly of Hickory died November 16, 2013.

Funeral services will be November 21, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Morning Star First Baptist Church, Hickory with burial to follow in Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.

Crystal Michelle Mills, 40, died November 17, 2013.

A funeral service will be held November 24, 2013 at 3 p.m. at The Favor Center, Hickory with burial to follow in Central Cemetery in Newton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
