Amir Davis led four in double figures with 18 points as Lincoln Charter opened its boys basketball season with a 60-52 win over visiting Carolina Christian on Tuesday.
Christian Hilty added 12 points, Logan Foster scored 11 points, Kevin Walsh had 12 points for the Eagles (1-0), who used a big fourth quarter to pull out the win and offset Luke Moore’s 22 points from Carolina Christian.
LINCOLN CHARTER 32, CAROLINA CHRISTIAN 30: At Lincoln Charter, the Eagles won on a buzzer-beater by Victoria Cobb to win their season opener.
Caitlin Miller and Cobb had seven points each for Lincoln Charter (1-0), which also got five points each from Ebony Tinsley and Ashley Baich.
NL’s EASTER TRANSFERS TO BANDYS: North Lincoln standout guard Antaijah (Ace) Easter has transferred to Bandys, the Hickory Daily Record reported on Tuesday.
Easter, a 5-foot-9 guard, averaged 25.8 points and had 224 rebounds on a 17-10 team and was named the player of the year last season in the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A Conference.
She enrolled at Bandys in October and has been practicing with the varsity basketball team, Trojans Athletic Director Stephen Hensley said according to the Record.
The Knights and Trojans open the season against each other at North Lincoln on Tuesday.
EL UP TO SECOND: East Lincoln moved up two spots to second in this week’s Associated Press 2A statewide media poll.
The Mustangs (7-4), who host Bandys in the first round of the state 2AA playoffs on Friday, were fourth last week. They trail undefeated North Rowan, and are in front of third-place Franklin County (11-0), fourth-place Winston-Salem Carver (10-1) and High Point Andrews (10-1).
