Veterans school event
G.E. Massey Elementary School, 130 Newbold St. in Lincolnton, will host a Veterans Day celebration 9 a.m. at the flagpole. The Lincolnton High School chorus and elementary students will perform songs, and a number of community veterans will be in attendance.

Senior event
Iron Station senior citizens will meet 12 p.m. at Ironton Presbyterian Church. For more information, call (704) 735-3242.

Church dinner for CAC
First Presbyterian Church, 114 W. Main St. in Lincolnton, will host dinner at 6 p.m. to support Coalition Against Child Abuse and the Child Advocacy Center. Quilt Guild
Piecemakers Quilt Guild will meet for a beginner’s class 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Senior Center, located on the Gaston College-Lincoln campus, 511 S. Aspen St. in Lincolnton. For more information, call Linda at (704) 483-2778.

American Legion
American Legion Post 30 will meet 7 p.m. at the Legion Building, 1120 N. Aspen St. in Lincolnton.

Diabetes event
CMC-Lincoln will host Diabetes Awareness Day 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the hospital lobby. Individuals are encouraged to stop by and learn about risk factors, get a blood sugar check and sample diabetes-friendly desserts. Door prizes will also be available.

Singles ministry     
First Baptist Church, 201 Robin Rd. in Lincolnton, will host GRACE Singles ministry event 7 p.m. in the Family Life Center dining room. Guest speakers will be Pastor Keith Hollar and Skip. Attendants are asked to bring a covered dish item. For more information, call (704) 735-0541.

Public Education Foundation                                                           
The Lincoln County Public Education Foundation Board of Directors will meet 12 p.m. in the Executive Conference Room at the School Board Office, N. Generals Blvd. in Lincolnton.

Kid’s event
Hill’s Chapel UMC, 988 S. N.C. 16 in Stanley, will host “Kidz Klub: Marvelous Manners” 6-8 p.m. Dinner will be served for children to learn proper table manners. There will also be crafts and other activities for children ages 3-5th grade. For more information, visit hcumc.com.

Wildlife gala/auction
The N.C. Wildlife Federation will host a gala and silent auction 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Cameron Wood Club, 3228 Birnen Dr. in Charlotte. Proceeds will benefit the federation’s program, the Great Outdoors University. For more information, visit ncwf.org.

Yard sale   
St. Dorothy’s Church, N.C. 27 West in Lincolnton, will host an indoor yard sale 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a large variety of items. Proceeds will benefit an upcoming youth mission trip.

Salem Baptist Church, 1982 Salem Ch. Rd. in Lincolnton, will host a yard sale fundraiser 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the church parking lot. Available items will include men’s dress clothes, plus size clothes and cut glass items, among others.

Grief Share
Pisgah UMC, 2582 Gastonia Hwy. in Lincolnton, will host Grief Share classes starting 9:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall. The encouraging seminar will address how to survive the holidays following the loss of a loved one, whether it be recent or not. For more information, call (704) 732-0538.

BBQ fundraiser

Oyster stew fundraiser
Bethel UMC, 7284 Campground Rd. in Denver, will host an all-you-can-eat oyster stew fundraiser 12-7:30 p.m. Cost is $12 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Individuals may dine-in or carry-out.

Rabies clinic                                                                                                                                 
The Humane Society of Lincoln County will host a low-cost drive-thru rabies clinic 1-5 p.m. at the DSS building, 1136 E. Main St. in Lincolnton (behind Walgreens). Shots will be $7 per animal.

Fish fry                                                                                                                                 
Crouse UMC, Old N.C. 150 in Crouse, will host a fish fry and oyster stew supper with all the trimmings 4-7 p.m. Cost is $8 per plate. Proceeds will benefit the building fund project.

Widowed Group                                                                                                                       
The Widowed Group of the Greater Gaston Area will host Marty Vanderlip and songs from the 1950s & ‘60s at Gaston County Parks & Rec., 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy. in Dallas. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Admission is $8. Food will be available.

Church concert         
Pisgah UMC, 2582 Gastonia Hwy. in Lincolnton, will host the Spencer Mountain Quintet in concert at 10:30 a.m.

Church luncheon                                                                                                             
McKendree UMC, 3537 Maiden Hwy. in Lincolnton, will host a chicken and dumplings and country ham luncheon 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Donations will be accepted for missions and other projects. For more information, call (704) 735-4062.
