A formerly missing Maiden woman has been charged with stealing more than $15,000 from her employer, police said.

According to a Maiden Police Department news release, officers arrested 36-year-old Jennifer Leigh Wynn Thursday for allegedly taking money on Oct. 7 from Royal Enterprises, where she worked as a store clerk.

The company, officers said, operates the convenience store attached to the Shell gas station in Maiden.

Wynn went missing shortly after store officials discovered the theft, the release said.

Family members reported her disappearance, and police said they located her on Oct. 31.

Wynn was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Center under a $3,000 secured bond with a first appearance set for today.

She faces one felony count of larceny by servant or employee.
