James ‘Everette’ Wise
Mr. James “Everette” Wise, of 4443 Jim Wise Road in Lincolnton, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2013 after a brief illness.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Daniels Lutheran Church with Rev. Lewis Murdock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Wise was born November 30, 1918 in Lincoln County to the late James Pinkney and Mary Guess Wise. He was also preceded in death by his wife of over 56 years, Margaret Ballard Wise; son, Steven Edmond Wise; brother, Robert Elzy Wise; and nephew James Wessen Wise. A World War II veteran, dairy farmer, and mechanic, Mr. Wise’s favorite job was repairing farm tractors for over 50 years in a shop behind the home he was born, and still lived in. He was on the Board of Directors for the Lincoln County Farm Bureau, a founding member of the Howards Creek Fire Department, and a lifelong member of Daniels Lutheran Church.
Everette is survived by numerous nieces and nephews who adore him.

Vevette Wehunt Arthur
CHERRYVILLE — Mrs. Vevette Wehunt Arthur, 97, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at her residence.
Mrs. Arthur was born in Lincoln County on September 6, 1916 a daughter of the late John Calvin Wehunt and Ocie Lackey Wehunt. She was a member of North Brook Baptist Church, the WMU and a former Sunday School teacher for the Senior Adult class. Mrs. Arthur was retired from North Brook #3 School as a teacher and Principal.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. Arthur Sr. and son, Harry Arthur Jr.
Survivors include a son, John T. Arthur of Cherryville; two daughters, Judy A. Willis of Lawndale and Betsy A. Chapman of Sherrills Ford; five grandchildren, Buddy, Dustin, J.T. and Jeff Arthur and Kim Carroll; six great grandchildren, Grayson and Morgan Carroll, Anna Knight and Dylan, Loki and Ashton Arthur.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013 at North Brook Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Wise and Dr. Wade Dellinger officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the church. Burial will be private

Helen Lutz Bradshaw, 82, of 6132 Old Shelby Rd, Vale, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Lutheran Home in Hickory.
She was born in Catawba County on December 1, 1930, to the late Charles Bain Lutz and Zenie Asherbraner Lutz. Mrs. Bradshaw retired from George Hildebran Elementary School after thirty five years of teaching fourth and fifth grades. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, their United Methodist Women also held various offices within the church. She also enjoyed her membership in the Red Hat Society.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy White Bradshaw.
She is survived by her son, Steve Bradshaw and wife Mary of Vale; daughter, Kim Bradshaw of Vale; grandson, Billy Bradshaw of Vale; and two brothers, Charles Lutz and wife Wanda of Lincolnton and Howard Lutz and wife Juanita of Kings Mountain.
Visitation will be this evening from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. today at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston and one hour prior to the service on Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Vale. Officiating will be Rev. Tony Sayer and Rev. David McCauley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Bradshaw, Wesley Bradshaw, Alan Lutz, Bryan Lutz, Walter VanHorne and Steve Brittain; and honorary pallbearers will be her Sunday school class and Ebenezer United Methodist Women.
