Three Charlotte men accused of forging a prescription at a Denver pharmacy Thursday also engaged in a similar incident at a second eastern Lincoln County pharmacy earlier that day, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies have charged the following suspects in the case: Courtney Redfearn, 36, of 1623 Newland Road, Jetaun Cloud, 24, of 1011 Johnson Street, and Javonte Fox, 25, of 1724 Long Paw Lane.
The trio is accused of using a fake name to pass a prescription for hydrocodone and xanax at Walmart, located on N.C. 73 in Denver, before heading to Rite Aid, also in Denver, to conduct similar criminal activity, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The suspects were initially arrested on Thursday at Rite Aid, after deputies responded to the business in reference to a forged prescription.
During the incident, one of the men struck a narcotics investigator and damaged the deputy’s cell phone, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Additional charges were filed against the suspects Friday night when deputies said they served warrants on each of the men.
New charges against Redfearn, who remains under a $150,000 secured bond, include one felony count each of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or forgery, conspiracy and uttering a forged instrument along with misdemeanor conspiracy and possession of a schedule IV controlled substance.
He also faces nine additional charges in connection with the Rite Aid incident, deputies said.
Cloud, initially charged with one count each of conspiracy and trafficking heroin, now faces an additional conspiracy charge along with one felony count each of trafficking in drugs and possession of five or more counterfeit prescriptions.
Cloud is being held under a $100,000 secured bond.
Total charges against Fox, now also under a $150,000 secured bond, include two counts each of trafficking heroin and conspiracy and one count each of cocaine possession, trafficking in drugs and possession of five or more counterfeit prescriptions/instruments.
The Sheriff’s Office said more charges might be filed against the men as an investigation continues.
